A long long long long loooooong time ago in a galaxy we all know and love.
An excellent and ambitious story from the star wars universe. This offers an insight into the origins of the jedi and the force.Beginning with a very touching and atmospheric opening issue, the story then focuses on its main characters; largely a group of mid-level j'daii.focusing on the characters is a great, and once the story is set up you will be gripped to see where the characters are taken in this story. This collection feels very much like the 1st part in a trilogy, or the 1st third of the 1st part of a trilogy. it'll make you invest in the epic story and the conflict between the characters. It isn't neccessarily for the star wars hard fan, but a knowldge of the expanded universe would help.Aslong as you love the films there is something here for you, there are recognisable stories and themes that will not isolate any reader.Highly recommended.

Introduction
Good introduction to the comic series it’s a must read to learn the basis of the story although I recommend reading Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi: into the void first just so you get familiar with the layout. Amazing artwork and enjoyed reading it.

Frankly quite boring.
I'm surprised at this. I'm a long time fan of Ostranda and Duursema having read Star Wars Legacy for the four years it ran as well as their Quinlan Vos stories and various other stories in the Republic line. What you get here is a story that in my mind is trying be the next Knights of the Old Republic. It takes place something like, 20,000 years before a new hope in the supposed ancient times. Despite it being tens of thousands of years in the past, they still have spaceships, flagships and various other pieces of high-tech that doesn't really fool the reader into believing that the story is set in this time period. The only pieces of low-tech are slug thrower pistols (normal guns) and swords which would be fine if one of the antagonists didn't have what's called a "Force Saber" which, as far as I can determine, is no different from a Lightsaber despite Ostrander and Duursema insisting that it isn't.The one thing that this book does have is a lot of characters that have the potential to be interesting except that they're not. They're pretty cliched. You have your Anakin Skywalker esque character, your Han Solo esque character and so on.Dawn of the Jedi was boring quite honestly. The characters didn't grab me and it didn't feel like it was an exciting, unexplored era.

Great info on the Je’daii
I thought this was a great read. It gave a lot of information about the early days of force users in the galaxy. I’m reading this after the Dawn of The Jedi novel and it gave a lot more information on things referenced in the book.

Ottima introduzione
Ottime introduzioni, come consiglio potrei dire che sarebbe da leggere prima del romanzo star wars dawn of the jedi into the void.

Great Foundation for reading this series
I read this first because the Star Wars Universe is completely different in this era than anything I know of and I didn't want to be confused as I read. Just finished and now I'm ready for more reading.

Interesting
I know nothing about the Dawn of the Jedi era. As an introductory book, this helps me to understand who the principal players are and the basic structure of their world and philosophies. The pictures help me visualize what the text describes. As intriguing as this is, it also leaves me wondering how this fits in with the larger Star Wars universe. No plot, other than the basic timeline, is given to ground this with the rest of this galaxy’s ample lore.

quick read
The book is 24 pages and fun to read.I read the novel and found little info relating to it other than landscape and temple info but non I believe on characters from it. It has different race information and the drawings and pics are wonderful. Not a necessary read but for $2 on kindle it was worth it
