Great Product
I liked the fact that you can use it on your computer. Its a big difference looking at something on a computer monitor then having to look threw a microscope.I love this little scope. Its a good way to get your kids interested in science and if they are not then you didn't spend hundreds of dollars on a microscope they will never use!I would recommend buying this product

Not to bad.
I cannot get the zoom and snap shot features to work. The software provided does not work, I had to use a app from the play store. The image is good and the manual focus can be used to zoom.

Great price, very good images - room for stand improvement
Even though I had some difficulty installing included software on my ancient xp computer. I was able to use their provided simple viewing interface to take pictures and screen shots.Zooming in is cumbersome since the scroll to magnify is stiff and located on the camera which moves/jiggles and is hard to maintain focus. The "snap" and "zoom" buttons are also located on the camera which presents their own set of challenges. I used painters tape to "strap down" the base from wiggling. Mixed results, patience is a must.Other owners have suggested functions such and magnification and other buttons be located on the usb cable itself, and I completely agree. Like old fashioned lamps, rotary dials were located on the cord.In addition the scroller it is difficult to determine what magnification you are currently viewing. All the way left is 20X, and all the way right is 800X. Anywhere in between is anyone's guess.A full overview is available below.squinja.com/microCheers - squinja7000

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the image
Instructions leave a bit to be desired but I am very happy with the quality of the images. Superb views. Now I need a micro-adjustable stand for getting a small object in view and perfectly still. Right out of the box it will focus perfectly on the test grid at 20X when the grid is on the face of the transparent tube. For higher magnifications the object must be moved close to the lens which means inside the tube. Of course you need a very steady hand for the small adjustments. I have a picture of a part of the test grid (0.1mm spacing) at 20x and a picture of the edge of a dime at 20x. Another picture at a higher magnification of the edge of the dime - with the dime clamped and me holding the scope still as possible To go even higher I need mechanical assistance. For any microscope high magnifications always have a shallow depth of field.

Great toy
There's not too much to expect from a $20 device, a toy is a toy. But it works well, image quality is pretty decent for its price tag, nothing to complain about really. The price is comparable to a movie ticket with popcorn, and for this money you guarantee yourself a few hours of exploring your hairy skin, onion peels, carpet furs and many other cool things around the house. Awesome way to spend one or two weekend nights.I am deducting 1 star for lack of Mac support. I guess we Mac users should wait for Apple branded iMicroscope for 20x the price. Also, magnification is basically static, you can only move the lens up/down to focus, not to zoom.

This microscope is okay, and does most of what was advertised. I was concerned when my computer kept rejecting the software disk. The disk is half the size of a regular cd, so it wasn't registering as there. I finally had to hold the tray closed, then my computer could take an extra moment to read it. When I got the software to load, I discovered that the "take picture" button doesn't work. I did figure out a workaround: press the pause button (as if you were watching a video) then press the save button.

I would definitely recommend it. It's "800x" zoom is a result of 160x optical and 5x digital. No documentation but easy enough to figure it out. It comes with software that lets you capture photos/video. Definitely as good of lighting as you're going to get at this price point and it comes with an in-line brightness adjustment. You can also edit brightness/contrast/sharpness/hue etc in the software on a per-picture/session basis.

Great microscope for the price
Really neat. Great microscope for the price. It interfaces with your computer as a webcam, so you don't have to use the included software if you don't want to. Having a setup of posable alligator clamps makes it easier to get whatever you're trying to look at in position.

OK as far as it goes, but basically a toy
No software for Mac (they suggest a clumsy partial workaround using Photobooth). No real control over magnification. It's basically a toy, with very limited usefulness. But it's cheap, and fun up to a point.
