Fussy dogs
The dogs are fussy eaters and did tend to eat this without a lot of encouragement

OK product but one out of two dogs refuse even to entertain it....
Vet's Kitchen Lamb with Sweet Potato Grain free Adult dog food is not a dog food I would do a repeat purchase for the simple reason, one out of two dogs hate it. She refuses to even touch it, actually smelled it and walked away, the other dog who truthfully would eat and does eat anything, therefore, it will not be wasted. For the price, I consider this a dog food which is not of the top quality I would expect as it has two main layers, the top one being a jellied gravy is the only way I would and could describe it while the bottom layer which is very dark in colour has a more meaty texture. I presumed because lamb is a strong meat is a reason the dog food has a strong smell.I do like however that everything a dog needs to stay healthy is included within the meat which is ideal for senior dogs like my own the main ingredients for their joints being glucosamine and chondroitin which according to a lot of reports and studies will help treat and maintain their joints. There is also brewers yeast and chicory to work as prebiotics which helps maintain a healthy gut.The healthy qualities of this dog food makes it for me a good dog food to purchase and if it was less expensive I would have considered purchasing it, but with one dog liking it and the other dog hating it makes it an extra added expense compared to purchasing a good quality dog food which will suit both animals.Vet's Kitchen Lamb with Sweet Potato Grain free dog food is slow cooked which will aid the digestion of the dog food as well as it being foil sealed makes it a very healthy alternative to their usual food.

Tasty Quality
First and foremost both our Australian Shepherds clearly love this Vet's Kitchen Lamb with Sweet Potato. They both lap it up with gusto and, something I've not seen before, then return to their empty bowls several times and lick the already overly licked bowls again and again. From my point of view I'm very impressed with the ingredients. Peeling off the tray's lid the contents look and smell good enough to eat myself. As well as being 60% fresh lamb there are lots of other healthy ingredients like seaweed, rapeseed oil and spinach. Just as impressive there's no filler like wheat grain which a lot of lesser dog foods use just to bulk out the contents, and is not an ingredient dog digestive systems all cope with well. Price wise this Vets Kitchen is very much at the higher end, but then all really good quality dog foods are, and lets face it you get what you pay for. Our dogs love it...we love them...so we'll doubtless be feeding them this either as a mixer or a regular treat from now on.

OK but perhaps a bit rich for our dog initially. Pricing is a little steep compared to our usual brand.
This wet food is a bit hit-and-miss for our dog. She initially wolfed it down as she does with with most things, but I’m not sure if it entirely agreed with her (if you catch my meaning). The smell is pretty strong compared to the other wet food we often use (either Butcher’s Choice, or Collards) and the consistency is a bit unusual in that there is a layer of jelly on the top with the meat underneath - perhaps that’s down to this particular ‘lamb and sweet potato’ variant. Our dog hasn’t had anything with sweet potato in before, so it could be that ingredient that she wasn’t used to, but we’ve since eased her in with small portions and we haven’t had a repeat performance of her upset, so that might have been a red herring. She certainly seems pretty happy with it all now. I appreciate the high meat content as that is important for dog food. I wouldn’t want her eating a load of grain and filler that was just used to bulk out the weight. There are some other decent additives in there that help with other health aspects, so that’s ok by me. Price-wise this is more expensive than our usual wet food trays, so unless it’s on offer we probably won’t keep buying it, but we will certainly keep an eye out if it is on promotion, just to give our girl a bit of variety from time-to-time.
