Stronger After Stroke: Your Roadmap to Recovery

The “bible” I needed to help me through my stroke!
This book is Essential as you have so many questions after having a stroke. No doctor, hospital or therapist has the time to explain all you are going through. I’m so happy I came across this book! A must read and you will not regret it!

This is a great resource!
I think anyone that has a stroke, or anyone that cares for someone (or even just interacts with them) would benefit from reading this book. It has a wealth of information, all the way from teaching you what has happened, and why the body reacts the way it does, to what you can do to heal, and even to recover lost ability. That last part is what was most amazing to me. Who knew that most people that can't walk three months after a stroke CAN RECOVER THE ABILITY TO WALK within a year or two of intense therapy? Because there is something called neuroplasticity - where the brain rewires itself to accomplish some function. As the authors note: you aren't born knowing how to walk, or ride a bike. But you can learn! And after a stroke, you can re-learn to walk, and for many people, the brain will rewire itself around the damaged tissue, to recover that ability. The bottom line is that this book teaches you so many things you will never learn from your doctor, the hospital, the skilled nursing facility, or even your therapist. With the knowledge you gain, you can ask intelligent questions, and get the right kind of therapy for you. And perhaps, recover that ability you lost. The book sells for a very modest price, but the knowledge you gain is priceless!

Good book, although at times a little de-motivating
