Green Arrow: Year One

Ce livre d'environ 160 pages est de tres bonne qualité, en format broché il peu semblé assez fin mais il n'en est rien; il s'agit ici de la préquelle de la série green arrow et instaure les véritables origines du personnage apparemment pas reprise dans la série tv de 2013 (ici ses parents sont mort et il n'est pas exactement question d'un naufrage). Jusqu'ici on savait qu'il avait passé du temps sur une île et était ressorti en archer génial qui chassait le mal plutôt que de prospérer avec les milliards de sa famille. Ce comics nous raconte donc ce qui s'est passé sur l'île où Oliver Quenne deviens green arrow et où il a son premier contacte avec la mafia chinoise que l'on reverra plus tard. Tres bien dessiné et tres bien narré (en anglais sur cette version year one, foncez vers la verison année un pour la vf) Year One est a dévorer et c'est un tres bon point de départ pour commencer n'importe quelle série green arrow (la série quiver comme longbow hunter etc..) ou juste pour faire une tres bonne lecture !

Let me just say that I have been a long die hard fan of Superman and enjoy Batman as well. I never really payed to much attention to other characters really besides Green lantern and Martian Manhunter. What really got me looking at Green Arrow was when he was introduced to the tv show Smallville. (of course I watch the show, its about superman) I liked the character of Green Arrow on smallville because he is a cocky but suave kind of guy so I started to look around for books involving him, and then I ran across Green Arrow: Year One. First of all have you seen the cover art? the black background with just a reflection of Oliver Queen within a green arrowhead was awesome enough to buy it but the story inside was even more exciting.. And now my review You pick up this book and the first thing that stands out is the art which continues to get more and more detailed as the story moves along. This is not just your regular run of the mill, heres the character and this is what he does and what he is known for. This is a reinvention of one of the most awesome characters in the DC universe. This book does a great job of introducing our character Oliver Queen and shows that he is just the rich playboy that everyone is expected to be when they are as wealthy as he is. I hate to give spoilers so I will just say it takes him making a fool of himself at a social event(a very funny part of the story) for him to come to a realization that he must change a few things. Well he goes for a getaway and runs across a bad lot of people and has to figure out a way to survive. We see him become a Robinson Crusoe and we see as his ability to focus starts to set up his new identity. He begins to build a strong ethical code and we see him start to mature in front of our very eyes and take on something that is much bigger than just himself. The writing is superb and the art is outstanding. I will tell you this, this book has now pole vaulted Green Arrow into number 2 on my favorites list of characters behind only Superman (no way he gets knocked out of number 1) I also picked up the Green Arrow and the Longbow Hunters 3 book set, that shows a darker more adult focused story of green arrow and crimes. I suggest if you read Year One and want more start with The Longbow Hunters and then move on to the ARCHERS Quest Series starting with Quiver. They are worth it.

GA Year One - Andy Diggle erzählt die Geschichte neu, wie aus dem verwöhnten, verantwortungslosen Millionär und Playboy Oliver Queen Green Arrow wurde. In den letzten Jahren ist eine Flut von Comicheften erschienen, die den Ursprungsmythos der Golden Age-Helden neu erzählen, einige ganz gut, andere weniger. Insbesondere "Year One" schraubt als Titel die Erwartungen hoch, muss man doch an Frank Millers genialen Neubeginn der Batman-Saga denken. Kann Green Arrow, der eher in die zweite Liga der Helden gehört, der Erwartung gerecht werden? Es ist fast eine spirituelle Reise, die Queen hier Antritt, eine Selbstfindung, die mehr als überfällig war. Queen, der sich mit seinen selbsverliebten alkoholgetränkten Eskapaden jeglicher SelbstAchtung beraubt hat, strandet auf einer Insel, wo er auf sich alleine gestellt ist. Schließlich stellt sich heraus, dass er nicht so einsam ist, wie angenommen. China White hat den Hauptsitz ihres Drogengartells auf der Insel, und Queen, der die innere Reise zu Green Arrow bereits angetreten ist, muss den Kampf aufnehmen. Diggle erzählt die Story spannend und gut aufgebaut. Besonders beeindruckend wird der Gesamteindruck aber auch durch die tolle Artwork von Jock, genial koloriert von David Baron. Green Arrow gehört zu den Superhelden, die über keine Superkräfte verfügen, nicht nur darin weist er Ähnlichkeiten zu Batman auf. Anders als dieser hat er aber weniger dunkle Anteile in seiner Persönlichkeit, so dass er später auch das Potential hat, zu einem romantischen Helden zu werden (a la Robin Hood) und Black Canary zu seiner Marianne zu machen. Kein Wunder also, dass er schon als Kind einer meiner Favoriten war. Selbstverständlich spielten auch die Nachmittage in den Schrebergärten eine Rolle, als ich mit selbstgebastelten Pfeil und Bogen stundenlang im Gebüschen auf der Lauer lag, unbewusst voyeuristisch und zeitbefreit. Tarzan, Green Arrow - das waren die passenden Helden zu sonnenheißen Tagen. Diggle sei Dank nun also ein Wiedersehen mit diesem frühen Helden meiner Kindheit. Ein sehr erfreuliches Wiedersehen mit einem Helden, der inzwischen auch seine kindliche Unbeschwertheit mitsamt seiner Trickpfeile abgelegt hat. Sehr lesenswert

Oh My! After a REALLY long time I got to read something that was so visceral and pulse-pounding, and yet presented so neatly, without any flesh whatsoever. Amazing stuff, which you simple HAVE TO read, unless you have read it (multiple times), off course. Highly Recommended.
