Solvit Tagalong Pet Bicycle Basket

I never review items, but this was so bad and dangerous I had to say something to make sure no other dogs get injured. This item says it works with dogs up to 13 pounds and mine is only 9 pounds and the basket completely tipped forward and dumped my dog out after about 5 seconds of being on the bike. It took me an hour and a half to install & then it didn't even work & almost killed my dog. This product is very dangerous the way it is constructed. There is no support at the top of the basket to keep it from falling forward. I even attached 2 straps from the basket to the top of my handle bars to give the top of the basket additional support and the straps just broke off. Even before I put my dog in, with no weight in the basket, the basket was still bobbing up and down and tilting forward & back from the movement of the bike and wind. I have no idea how anyone could use this basket with even a Chihuahua. It is such a shame it wasn't constructed better because it has so much potential and seems like it would be an easy fix. I contemplated taking it to home depot or a bike place to see if they could somehow attach it more sturdily to my bike, but then decided this wasn't worth all the hassle with so many other dog baskets on the market so am having to return it. What a waste of my time & money. Seriously don't buy.

It’s pretty flimsy where it attaches to the bike. I wouldn’t trust the slide on attachment to hold the basket or dog. There is a design flaw where it attaches to the bicycle handlebars. No matter how tight it is screwed together, the plastic pieces slide on the metal handle bars. There’s nothing to grip the bar and keep it from sliding. Maybe a gasketor some kind of rubber would hold it in place.

Our dog, a tweenie Dachshund, and I enjoy this basket very much. The basket works well for her weight (11 pounds) and her length (14 inches from withers to tail). What is needed after purchase are more straps than what is provided for stability and safety. The ties provided easily become undone and the basket will bounce around (poor puppy). Needed are five to six zip ties to keep the basket attached and your dog comfortable.

My little pooch loves this basket. It was very easy to assemble and feels very secure and stable on my bike. The little sun shade helps somewhat but I think it's more for effect as it is wicker too. One of the really nice features about this basket is that it absorbs some of the bumps and acts almost as if it has shocks for a smooth, comfortable ride. I was a little alarmed the first time I saw it bounce a little instead of staying completely flat against the front of my bike. But my little Pom doesn't get bounced around because the basket does the bouncing for her.This basket is great quality and looks great!

I absolutely love this. The basket fits perfectly and securely onto my bike and the instructions were pretty easy to follow. My yorkie, who is very timid, seems to thoroughly enjoy riding around town especially with the sun roof on (she doesn't feel so secure without it). Would definitely reccomend for anyone with a small dog who loves the outdoors. I have no regrets about this purchase

This was bought for my 12 year old daughter's bike so she could take her dog for a ride. We added a little more cushion and did a few short trips to get both used to the ride. They love riding together. ***Must keep handlebars stable as the weight throws the bike off balance.

Perfect. We love it. The straps to hold the basket to the handlebars are so-so, but so easy to just put some zip ties and it is perfect. The basket and structure is high-quality and perfectly matched to support our Maltese. Very secure and isn't wearing on the bike frame with scratches or friction. Clever.

I tried another at the same time and this was won over by my dog. This is on the front of the bike the other on the back and he was extremely annoyed that he could not see. I then tried this and he loved it.I would recommend for any little dog. My Buddy is approximately 12-14 pounds and fits nicely.
