Update: Installed a 32mm FR Big Brass Block, and it’s fantastic. Highly recommend it. Also, I noticed the saddles are different heights and can be switched up so that your strings are each at an ideal height relative to the frets - so for example, rather than a generic curve, you can rearrange the saddles so the bridge follows a descending arc that eliminates fret buzzing of the low E while feeling more even across the strings. I did this on mine and the result is a phenomenal, perfect feel all along & across the neck. It’s an awesome bridge. The burnt chrome look is remarkably beautiful. If you’re upgrading from a licensed FR ($18) here are a few points to consider:The most important thing to be aware of is that this tremolo comes with a 37mm high block. For my guitar (a custom partscaster) I will need to order a 32mm block, otherwise the springs will stick out of the back. This tremolo sits about 2mm to 3mm or so taller overall than the licensed. I had to drill an extra few mm for the bridge posts to sit a little bit deeper in the body. The $18 licensed model is not junk. The locking screws and the tuners never stripped despite much initial experimentation. It’s minimal but it isn’t weak. I was using the licenced FL with a real FR R2 lock nut because the lock nut that comes with the licensed bridge stripped immediately. The FR lock nut is very tough and won’t strip with regular use - not even close. Well worth it in the end.
