A fun, quick read with likeable, relatable characters!
I bought this book the day it came out. I have read and enjoyed all of Maria's books and had been looking forward to this one.Daphne is a 39 year old single mom who takes a much needed vacation with 2 old college girlfriends with whom she has not spent a lot of time lately nor seen in a very long time. The occasion is a celebration of their turning 40. The vacation and reunion both are long-overdue. The best part, for me (aside from relating to the single mom) was the banter between the characters. It was witty and more important, realistic. Daphne was not perfect, nor were her friends. Nothing dragged on. The scenery was lovely and I could picture every smoothie, cocktail, boy and boat in my head. It was a fast, fun read and one where the characters stayed in your head after you closed the book, or turned off your kindle/ipad :-) The only complaint I had is that this would have been the perfect vacation or beach read and I read it at home lol I am awaiting the sequel -hint hint! Nice job Maria.

Fun does not end at the half-point of life.
I think I've "aged out" for this type of story. Women who are still young but feel like they are missing something might like it But I kept thinking these ladies, reconnecting at age 40, were playing it a little too fast and loose - taking chances with strangers (men) that could have been dangerous. But I guess that's the "mom" in me. What I did like is that the author was very subtle describing the intimate moments. So much better than the overblown fireworks, rapture, starbursts, etc., alleged to be experienced during the Act. But ideas expressed in the book - let go of the past, don't blame yourself if things didn't turn out as you planned, allow yourself to have fun - yes good things to live by (but you don't have to include a one-night-stand!).

A good book for a "summer read"
I liked this book. It is light reading. The plot centers around three college friends on a vacation in a fictional (I think) island in the Caribbean. Skylar and KC are celebrating Daphne's 40th birthday though she is dreading turning 40. Their adventures are interesting, at times funny or cute. They meet other vacationers, including a group of men in their 30s there for a bachelor party. This is a good "summer read". Entertaining without requiring deep concentration. I could pick it up, read for awhile, then put it aside for awhile without having to go back to remind myself of the characters names or plot.

Letting go of regrets and starting over.
The story is about a divorced woman who, after two years, is still feeling like she should have, or could have done something better or differently to have made the "perfect family" the truth and not just an illusion. The story takes place when their college friends meet on an Caribbean island to celebrate turning forty.Daphne, our main character, has been separated for two years and the divorce has recently been finalized. Daphne has just found out that her ex-husband is getting re-married. Daphne is wrecked, has lost herself in a marriage that didn't work and doesn't know how to begin again. The novel is about letting go and finding herself again and starting over - realizing her life isn't over.Fairly fast read. Well written. Allows you to be inside Daphne's head and hear insecurities and eventually her hopes as the story progresses.

Wait for the Rain
A great story about three friends who have known each other since college days and have kept in touch over years. They are getting together to celebrate their40th birthday. Going over the past years mentally and verbally, reviewing their ups and downs, one friend in particular who has a great need to find her old self, they rediscover why they are such good friends. With the help of the other two friends she is able to find her way back and face her life as it is and make somethingof it. This was an enjoyable story to read with some laughs and some sad situations.

Not much happens in this story other than angst
Nothing really happens. The three friends meet on a vacation to celebrate Daphne turning 40. Their conversations are not that believable in my opinion and they went over the same silly things. I don't like to give brutal reviews so I hope this one isn't bad but when I was reading it, my mind would wander to other things and then I would have to put the book down. I don't think it was my cup of tea, though I do enjoy island adventures with women. I'd read something else by Murnane. This is the first time I've read her.

I truly enjoyed this story and I can easily recommend it
Wait For The Rain is a light-hearted read. i don't know what I expected, but the novel has an uplifting quality. It's the story of three former college roommates who stayed close over the years and they meet at a tropical island to celebrate their upcoming 40th birthdays. it takes you back and makes you realize that life seldom evolves into the dream you have when you are younger. Ms. Murnane gives you food for thought and a very fitting ending. I truly enjoyed this story and I can easily recommend it. Reviewed by Heide Katros, Winter Haven News. FL

Boringly tedious
How tedious. Listening to other peoples' reminiscing is usually boring and this was no exception. I had to scan read a lot of the pages for this reason. I lived in hope that it would improve as I continued. I was disappointed

True friendship whatever as happened
I loved the way the friends didn't judge each other on what any of them did even if they didn't think it was the right thing to do.
