Great Sounding Center Channel speaker!
Great sounding upgrade for my center channel. My previous Infinity Primus PC251 Center channel speaker never sounded as good as the Infinity Primus P363 towers (front Left/Right). This speaker blends better than that center channel from the same company and line of speakers. The fact it's a different brand doesn't matter if it sounds good. The only thing that might be a problem is that I had to turn the center channel up to about +7 to hear dialogue as I want. The Infinity only had to be turned up +4. So, it does seem to take more power than the Infinity Primus speakers. Pretty sure that's the difference in 4 ohm versus the usual 8 ohm rating.Even though I love my cheap Infinity towers this center channel has me intrigued to buy the Elac UniFi Towers for $400 per speaker. I'm certain it will be quite an upgrade, but the Infinities are no slouch either. The other Towers on my radar are the SVS Prime. I do feel like I should stick to Elac now that I own the Center channel.I got this center channel after Christmas when it still had Black Friday/Cyber Monday pricing and I couldn't resist the deal. Price check: it's actually a bit cheaper right now at $239.88. The price sort of pushed me in the direction of the Elacs. The UniFi Towers have been on sale before, so I will stay on the lookout. I feel no need to upgrade my surround speakers since they are mostly for effects and sound good enough for what they do. I will be looking to add SVS Prime Heights or Satellites for front height channels which will also require an A/V Receiver upgrade; probably the Onkyo TX-RZ920 with a bit more quality and power than the TX-NR737 and current year model 787. I need 9 powered channels and a powered zone 2 to keep my patio speakers running. I might run a separate amp for an additional 2 rear height channels, but it would be a bit crowded with my surrounds and rear surrounds.Powered by the Onkyo TX-NR737 7.2 channel receiver.HSU VTF-2 MK5 12" SubwooferInfinity Primus P363 towersELAC Uni-fi UC5 Center channelInfinity Primus P153 bookshelf surroundsFluance XLBP Bipolar rear surrounds

Paired nicely with my Uni-Fi 2.0 bookshelvs
Elac recently announced a 2.0 version of their Uni-Fi bookshelf speakers and while there are not a lot of reviews as of yet, those that are out there from credible sources are overwhelmingly impressed with them. I had just bought some Debut 2.0 6" speakers before the new Uni-Fi 2.0 came out and while the Uni's cost almost twice as much as the Debuts, I was looking for an excellent set of speakers and only moved away from speakers in the $1,000-1,700 range because of the reviews of the Debut 2.0s. Since price was not the main deciding factor for me and the reviews indicatexd that the Uni-Fi's may be "the best bookshelf speaker below $2K", I decided to buy a set. Mine came directly from Elac. To make a long story short, the new Unis 2.0s are indeed a significant step up from the Debut 2.0s and sound down right fantastic. I mean really fantastic. Since I'm not that cost sensitive and really wanted the best sounding I could get as well as a good value, I returned the Debuts and kept the Uni's.But to the point: To complement the Uni 2.0s, I compared the Debut 2.0 center with the the Uni-fi UC5. They're about $100 difference in price, and while I have never auditioned an $800+ center speaker to know what the gold standard might be, I can say that again the Uni clearly out perfomed the Debut. I kept the Uni and returned the Debut. To be clear, I don;t throw money away and if I could not easily hear the improvement of the Uni's over the Debuts, I would have kept the Debuts. However, the Debut L/R/C speaker set sounded really good and if I had not heard of or tested the new Uni-Fi 2.0s, I would have kept them and been very happy. If you can get the Debut's on sale at about a third of the Uni set, you would not be making a bad decision to go with the Debuts. At full MSRP, well, it might be worth the extra to get the Uni set. I would not hesitate to reccomend stepping up to the Uni setup.

When its 200 bucks its around 60% off org. Msrp
This is a lot of speaker for 200 bucks. The best ting about them to me is that they are a 3 way coaxial design so when i upgraded my center i bought a second one of these and use them vertically as surrounds!

like the man is talking inside a box or something
This UC5 and UB5 replaced my BIC LCR speakers; It got muffled with some males voices when I watched some TV shows, like the man is talking inside a box or something. It didn't sound like this with the BIC setup. I almost return it; however, I decided to keep it and give it a try, after a month or so, now it sounds better.

It's clarity is very good. That's what was most important to me when I was looking for a centre speaker and this one did not disappoint.
