Best 5 minute project I've done in years!
I got tired of having the cold shower curtain touching me. This product is easy to install and makes a HUGE improvement vs straight rods.I didn't do any measuring during the installation. I went out to the garage found a scrap piece of wood that was about two inches tall and (and about a foot long) rested that on top of the showers fiberglass tub surround to use as a guide block.It makes it much easier if you have someone support the weight of the back of the rod while you are attaching the first side. The rods attachment point is a piece of black plastic that has about 7 holes for screws. I was lucky in that I knew there were studs on both sides. I put my piece of wood up on the surround rested the rods mounting plate on top of the wood and then used two 2.5" deck screw (the gold ones that won't rust) into the top and bottom of the plate.I then moved to the other side repeated, snapped the endcaps on and all done!To make the job easier you really need a cordless drill and some decent screws. As a general rule, screws that are included with ANY product generally are cheap junk and should be upgraded with ones more suited to your specific installation.Lastly make sure you pick up some Heavy Duty - Polished Chrome Roller Shower Curtain Rings - Set of 12 RollerRings® They will make a HUGE difference and put that special finishing touch on your install.-------UPDATE-------------------I can't stress what a great upgrade this was Its incredible the differences a few inches makes! I noticed there are some people complaining about the quality of the product. I guess there are some people who are never going to be happy but I can say we are a 6 person household and this shower gets the most use (even the kids like it).The one negative is that now that the shower looks so good with a real rod and a new curtain that it makes the paint in the bathroom look cruddy.So all in all still a 5 star project even though I will now have to paint the bathroom as soon as my summer outdoor "projects" are wrapped up."projects" = me and kids in the pool :}

The dreaded "hump" can be overcome...
Hubby wanted a new shower rod, and he wanted the curve, but his stall is narrower than the usual size, so we had to either cut the single rod style we'd used in our old house, or go with an adjustable 2-piece rod. Neither of us wanted to try cutting the rods, so we settled on this, despite the fact that it would have the dreaded "hump", which is where he usually rips the shower curtain right off the hooks, because they won't go smoothly over those humps.Install was easy, and straightforward, the end caps fit fine, and covered the mess from the existing rods - so no paint touch-ups (yay), and we bought some roller-ball type shower curtain holders that roll up over the hump easier, so he's happy, and his shower curtain is not ripped and taped all the time. (Yay!)If you've never had a curved shower rod - in general, they are great. It makes it feel soooo much roomier in your shower, and it stops the dreaded clinging shower curtain from wrapping around your leg, every time the heat comes on. We love them, and always use them for tub/shower enclosures, if we can fit them.Install note: Just be sure you can fit it. Take note if your wall cabinet is too close to the shower, or might interfere with the curtain sliding by it. Mine just scraped by in my old house, so I got lucky, and hadn't factored that in before installing. 1 inch closer, and my curtain would not have slid by it. (Also, keep a level handy - you'll want this thing level, or it's gonna look stupid, and it won't move easily, once it's up.)

Has pros and cons, what doesnt...
I'd give this a three and a half if I could. On one hand, I read the reviews about the sub par metal mounting screws it came with, so went to use my own drywall screws and anchors. Ran into problems when 2/6 screws actually hit a stud, but that's not their fault. Bad directions, as they didn't specify what size drill bit to use for their anchors anyway.BIG con for me - the two pieces fit together with a plastic bit that slides into one of the sides - two problems, it ripped a bit in the two minutes of handling before I mounted it, was able to get it inserted but it took care. Big problem though, the hooks on my shower curtain catch in that area as I slide it from the left to the right (that slightly increases the rod width) but doesn't as I slide it from the right to the left (and the rod slightly decreases in size). This is irritating as all get out, and we haven't even finished the rehab to the point where we are up and running yet. I'll also say that the rod is a bit wiggly if you press up and down on it in the middle, not that I am in the habit of wiggling my shower rod around to be irritated by it...but it doesn't make me feel it's sturdy at the midsection.I mounted it a bit too far out in our cramped bathroom, so I'm going to have to move it - it certainly does increase space inside the tub though. Both sides mount flush to the wall at least. The catching on the middle of the rod is a big negative for me though, I admit if I'm aware of it every time I shower I'll be throwing it in the garbage and getting a straight rod again so I don't have to deal with that issue. If you get to slide your curtain to the right when you exit the shower it probably won't be an issue at all, but if you, like me, have a toilet to the left side of the tub and have to slide it to the left to exit the shower, you might want to consider something else.
