I’m not sure of the effectiveness but my dogs like them as treats.

I have a 15 1/2 year old Shih Tzu that was recently diagnosed with end stage renal disease. I have him on prescription food but wanted to still allow him to enjoy treats. Ordered the Kidney Restore bacon flavoured with high hopes that he would enjoy. These treats are as hard as rocks and he couldn’t even eat one, plus it was difficult to get him to even try it. I also have three other adult dogs that attempted to eat one and they couldn’t chew it. All four dogs spit it out and none of them would try it again. The company stood by their guarantee and did refund.After thinking further about my Shih Tzu, I know I’m not going to have a lot of years with him and if I’m lucky, I’ll get one more year. I’d much rather him have a good quality of life and enjoy himself rather than worry about everything he eats. He loves fresh fruit and vegetables and I’m continuing to use those as his main treats along with the occasional dehydrated pieces of chicken. He’s doing amazingly well and his numbers continue to improve for now. He’s happy which makes me happy.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this treat because I have two aging dogs, both diagnosed with polydipsia due to kidney issues. My vet recommended a low-protein treat/supplement that I could give them in small bites, in between meals.Packaging: The shipment arrived quickly, and was packed appropriately in the shipping box. I appreciate that the bag is both resealable, and is designed to keep the treats “fresh” for a longer period of time, so it clearly has good shelf life. The label on the front of the bag had all the information I needed make a sound decision on this purchase (which is how I came to buy it in the first place.) The back of the bag also has some info-labeling, recommending serving methods and sizes, and clearly outlining the refund policy.Product: when I opened the bag, I noticed that (like a previous review pointed out) the treats looked like little dinner rolls. While that’s funny, the perforations are really convenient, so as to divide them up. I found that I did not need a knife to break the treats into smaller portions. They also have a pleasant smell… I thought the treats smelled of pumpkin and honey.Staying within the recommended serving size, I give both dogs 8 pieces per day. My dogs really like these treats, and I had no problem getting my Pomeranian and Pharaoh Hound to eat them. In a matter of days, I have already noticed my dogs are spending less time at the water bowl, which is a good sign in terms of kidney health.So far, the Kidney Restore Dog Treats have been great for us. My dogs are responding very well to them, and they enjoy them. I definitely recommend this treat as a healthy option for an owner that is struggling to help their pup(s) with kidney problems.

Treats are probably fine, my parents dogs just won’t eat them.

I am sorry that I had to return the item because my dog loves them, but the vet said that his health will not take the treats. They give him diarrhea. I really appreciate you helping me with this. Delores Ann Goodman

My dog was recently put on a special kidney diet. Wanted to get some treats that would also be in line with her new diet. Had been struggling finding a food that she would even try, so I was hesitant about the treats. However, both she and her brother love these treats! They are very crunchy (although you have the option to add water to soften) and have been a winner at our house!
