A rehash of old concepts
I sat in on a Stay Interview Go To Meeting which was informative. I purchased this book for more in-depth information: in reality, I'd heard all of the essential elements in the meeting. The book does not clearly present the authors ideas and brings nothing new to veterans of other leadership courses. In fact, the content comes across as more of an HR versus management finger pointing game. HR and management are supposed to be on the same team.

Not so much
It is an easy read, a bit boring and “text bookish. I like the way Studer suggests, in his book “Hardwiring Excellence” how to conduct “High-Middle-Low Performer” interviews, what to say, how to conduct etc.

the ability to retain top talent is always a problem for HR professionals and managers alike. This book has some great ideas on how to engage the power of stay interviews.

Worth reading!
Very in-depth ideas about Stay Interviews. I like the emphasized suggestion of letting the managers do stay interviews, not HR anymore. Also very useful analysis.

Finnegan's book is truly a masterpiece in defining Stay Interviews and how to implement them. A must read for any HR professional who is researching how to improve LMX.

a quick yet comprehensive guide to getting started
Just finished the Power of Stay Interviews and am ready to get started.The book accurately outlines both the reason for conducting Stay interviews as well as a preliminary guide to get started.I really appreciate the "draft" outline for developing a training program for managers.Nicely done!
