Salton ID1350 Portable Induction Cooktop, 3.28 kg, Black

This hob is a great piece of technology and a very useful tool in the kitchen. Highly recommend it. A few things to be aware of - it gets hot VERY quickly. I burned a few dishes until I got used to it. Also - if possible turn it side-on when you're using it, meaning the controls are to either the left or right of you, not between you and what you're cooking. This helps avoid accidentally bumping the touch-screen control panel ... above all else, have fun with it. :D

This induction cooktop is pretty nice. Its easy to clean, not very heavy, and fairly low profile. However, the heated area is only 6.5 inches across. I mostly use a 12" Lodge cast iron skillet, so with only ~50% actually heated it is pretty useless for me. It is fine if you are going to be using 8" skillets/small pots, or maybe perhaps a 10" skillet. It also seems to have a single hotspot on the left side.

I bought this to try induction cooking prior to a range purchase, thinking I’d inform myself better about the technology, and then could later use it as an auxiliary burner/warmer if needed.It works, and served that initial purpose and I did purchase a GE CAFE induction range.Unfortunately, this unit does not offer very good control of temperature in the lower ranges, with very coarse steps between settings. Precise Temperature control is one of the key benefits of induction cooking and this unit lacks that, so much so that slow simmering is a real challenge. It’s either too hot or too cold. Really annoying and kind of useless if you are actually cooking vs simply boiling a pot of water. I’d not purchase this again knowing what I now know.

J’essaierais plutôt le modèle à 1500 watts qui semble un peu plus petit sur la photo. Sur mon ancien modèle qui avait 1800 watts, je ne me suis servi de 1600 ou 1800 watts que très rarement; mon usage usuel était à 1400 watts.Bon magasinage à tous.This device works very well.However, it is a bit large unnecessarily. It measures 11½" x 14¾" or ¾" wider and 1¼" longer than an older model from the same company. I would rather try the 1500 watt model which seems a little smaller in the picture. I bought this for my Adult son who lives in our basement , He works nights and wants to come home at 6am to cook his dinner . We made a little kitchen area for him but not enough room for a full size oven . So I saw this on amazon and i thought i would give it a try . He loves it and raves about how fast it boils water , and cooks food perfect . It does get hot if you were to touch the side of it , as we were worried about the cats jumping up and getting their paws brunt , cleans easy , very good quality total recommend this
