Great cereal!!
This hot cereal is even better than Cream of Wheat. And to top it off it's made and from Montana! We're Idaho natives so that's one more reason to continue buying our'neighbors ' product! And we hope that you will too!!

It's all a matter of personal taste. It just so happens I like it.Find a box in the store and try it.If you like it, buy more; if not, don't.Hard pressed to tell you to buy three boxes on Amazon and then if you don't like it . . .

Have eaten Cream of the West for years ... so I am pleased that it is available online from Amazon.
I have been eating Cream of the West for breakfast for years. It is very similar to the Ralston's cereal that my mother served me as a child. Since I have only seen Cream of the West on store shelves when I was in Montana, I was very pleased that I could order it on-line via Amazon.

This product alone deserves a 5 star except for . . .
I've finally found another whole wheat farina-type cereal! Since Bob's Red Mill discontinued theirs, I've searched for another one. I tried several nice ones, but no real matches. THIS ONE IS IT! Some farina-type cereals seem to be created by obtaining separately the white farina, the bran, and the germ, and then adding them back together to meet the specifications of whole wheat. This one appears to the the real deal. I fell in love with farina (which I used to hate) after giving birth by C-section, followed by life-threatening complications. My doctor forgot to take me off a liquid diet for several days. Then the hospital served me farina. Food at last! But I need whole wheat. Thanks Cream of the West Roasted Wheat! Great flavor, real WHOLE milled wheat. Similar in texture to the plain white farina, but with the aroma and nutrition of whole wheat. Yum. I didn't try the other varieties. Value for the money, well, a little pricey, but not as high as some. However, PACKAGING could use some simple fixes. This arrives in an outer box containing three boxes of cereal. It was shipped in an Amazon plastic bag type package with no other protection, and had obviously suffered some rough treatment. Three corners (two top and one bottom) of one package were slightly smashed in, but it was enough to spill cereal from its cardboard box with no inside bag to protect it. The other two boxes were undamaged, BUT they still spilled cereal out the unprotected corners and folds in the box. I sat one "undamaged" box on a stool overnight, and in the morning it was sitting in a pile of cereal. It also spilled over my counters and floor from the unopened boxes. SUGGESTED FIX: Simply enclose the cereal in a sealed inner bag similar to ones cold cereal comes in, or secure the corners of the box with tape, wax, or something to seal the corners and folds so that they are not left virtually open to allow the cereal to spill out of the closed box. Since the loss was not huge, and most of the lost product was still in the outer box that held all 3 cereal boxes, I did not consider it contaminated, but it would be so much better if I could consider it fresh and wholesome, like I expect my whole wheat to be. We dusted off the outside of the boxes and taped the seams and corners to stop spillage. We stored the cereal from the damaged box in a quart jar with a lid. What a shame for such a great cereal. Oh, and as for the baby? He grew up to be an intelligent and successful man who now has a wife and children.

Just what I was looking for.
I tried each of the many whole wheat hot cereals, but this was the one that was right for me. It is like Cream Of Wheat, but not farina. It is smooth whole wheat.
