Great CD......spent time as a teen in Hawaii during the mid to late '70s....awesome and beautiful memories of the islands - brought back by the music of Kalapana.

Gives me back so many memories I had growing up with friends who were also big fans of the music and of spending time there in the 70's when life in general was mellower all the way around. All the locals know this is true. Miss Mackey Ferry a great deal and listening to his songs sometimes makes me cry.....for his passing and for the fond memories of my youth.

One of Hawaii's favorite classics

I remember Kalapana one August evening in 1977, orientation week was over, over at the Hilo Campus and the boys side got together to drink up and have some fun. The host, Gab Gazman, played several Hawaiian pop album and this series of 13 songs reminds me of the nights at the dormitory, Hale Kanilehua in Hilo and Johnson Hall in the Manoa Campus. It reminds me of Hawaii. Reminds me of people, reminds me mostly of Hilo, though I saw Kalapana at the Manoa Campus at the dome. Aloha, this will bring you back and I hope that you remember cheer, comradeship, and most of all the clean, salty air of Hawaii.
