The USB rechargeable Li Pol batteries provide battery life allowing you to make the photo/video shoot. The Lumimuse 8 comes with a hot shoe mount as well as a standard 6.4 mm thread to enable you to attach it directly to a tripod or alternative supports. Also included in each kit is a snap fit filter mount and set of filters to modify the colour temperature and diffusion of the light; you can simultaneously use up to two of these to achieve various effects. Versatile addition to your camera kit. Handy yet lightweight
I purchased this after reading an article in Outdoor Photography which recommended it. I’d previously used a torch handheld to the side to adjust the lighting but that is a bit cumbersome. I’m very impressed with this, and the three clip on filters are a bonus. So far I’ve used it without filter (the photo of the leaf and the tree stump), and with the white filter as shown in the hellebore photo. I also bought the manfrotto tripod which is a good companion. There are a lot of creative things to try with this light which has 3 brightness levels. You can mount it on your camera shoe to shine directly on your subject, or you can have it off to one side, or as I did, underneath the leaf to reveal the seeds within it. It is teeny and fits easily in a corner of your camera bag or in your pocket. It is a bit expensive, at a tad under £70, but I’m very happy with the results so far.

Powerful, small, good colour rendition and great filter add-ons available.
I got this when it was on offer and I have not regretted it. Great for videos with my iphone when light conditions are not ideal, powerful enough to be a filler even outdoors in normal conditions of brightness. Has never run out of battery in normal use. 4 levels of brightness (there is a newer, much more expensive model with has a bluetooth continuous regulator of brightness levels... but don't think it is a must-have to be honest). Bough the portrait filters kit and could not be happier to be able to warm up the colour of the light at will. Good looking, sturdy and practical (the ball head mount is a truly nice touch exclusive to the 8LED version!) Highly recommended, but wait for a discount!

Sometimes using a flash can be so harsh and often doesn't give the right results; especially on portraits at places like beamish and living history museums. I got one of these with the small Manfrotto tripod and its three light settings works treat, the diffuser sets are also very handy. Liked it so much I doubled up and carry two now! Shaping and directing light is so much easier, it also lets you meter better and get lovely softly lit portraits when using a short lens. Only words of warning: the diffuser isn't that secure on the front and you can turn the lumi on by accident quite easily when rummaging in pockets or bag. Recommended highly though!

Excellent
Awesome light. Excellent both on and off camera as a local fill light for outside portraiture, light painting close objects and for macro photography. Very light, compact, quickly rechargeable via USB (I use a USB portable charger for my iPad). Battery lasts about an hour on full. Light output has various strength settings. Really impressed. I use with a Nikon d810.

It is what it is
I have used it a couple of times and its worked out perfectly, need more use over time to give it a full assessment but I am pleased with it so far.I have used this a few times now and found it to be excellent. It does got warm/hot if left on for long periods of time and I found the gel diffuser supplied actually melted. Given that I count I bought a 2nd 6 LED version to give better lighting effects and was disappointed to find the 6 led version had no ball head on the camera hot shoe attachment.
