Q: How do these do with heat? I would be putting it right near the engine/exhaust of a zero turn.

I have them mounted on the front of my John Deere mower and the exhaust is near it. Have had zero issues. However it is covered in plastic so I would make sure it can’t touch the exhaust

I have 3 of these weights. They are 2 1/2" wide

I don't think so.It works the best on a flat piece of metal. Hope that helps. Also if you have a 3 pt on your tractor , check out tractor supply. They have a hitch that is made for suitcase weights.
