My hair has become such a hassle as I hit mid-adulthood (ugh, that's a depressing reality). I have oily skin and my hair would be oily when I was younger, but only when it wasn't washed regularly. Now, it seems like I go through phases where I have all this build-up in my hair and it will be gross, especially over my ears, a few hours after I wash it. I had been using some very harsh shampoos, Neutrogena's clarifying shampoos and even their T-Gel line, to try to combat this problem. Both would help the problem for a few months, but they would also make my hair very dry at the ends. I would be conditioning the ends and stripping the scalp area in a sort of vicious circle.Even still, a few years ago, I ran into a hair emergency: the Neutrogena clarifying just stopped working. My hair was absolutely gross, it wouldn't get clean no matter what I did. It may have been because I was going through a very stressful time in my life (some deaths in the family), but, whatever it was, the state of my hair was contributing to my stress. I also hate wasting money on a hair product only to find out after one use that it doesn't work for me. I tracked Nature's Gate down through online reviews here and at another site called makeup alley. Nature's Gate works really well to replenish my hair. It smooths it without overdrying and without leaving it greasy. Now, I still have to switch back to the Neutrogena, but I really find that Nature's Gate leaves my hair more manageable. I am a little afraid of using their conditioner given my hair texture, but I have been really impressed with the shampoo. It smells a little strange (although I have grown to like it and find it sort of naturific and it kinda tingles a little too), but it gets the job done. I don't actually have dandruff (well very rarely), but I have found this shampoo helpful for excess oil and for taming frizz. I believe it is the tea tree oil that is the key component to this.It's difficult to find Nature's Gate in stores and I only happened upon it in a Safeway grocery store in California so when I moved cross country, I was happy to find that it sells here on Amazon. It makes it less annoying than driving everywhere trying to find it.

I almost never take any time to write a review for the stuff I buy on Amazon, but I decided to take a few minutes and write this review. I have been looking for an all-natural based shampoo as I am slowing weaning myself away from all the harsh things that are poisonous to my body. I have been using Nature’s Gate Cleanse Shampoo for a whole week and I do wash my hair almost daily if not, every day. I have to say that I am very impressed with it. I suffer from dry scalp and dandruff and I was worried about using this shampoo without some sort of anti-dandruff ingredients, BUT this has not made my scalp dry at all which I do the happy dance for. I think I read in some reviews that the shampoo does not lather but I learned if you first soak your hair in water for a couple of minutes then lather the shampoo in, it helps make a natural bubbly clean feeling. The scent is WONDERFUL, if you like the whole warm, natural spice floral scent. (Almost like when you pass by an Astrology store and you get a whiff of faint essential oils) I saw a few reviews complain about the scent being too strong but it isn’t for me. I love how the scent does linger after my hair has dried, and it stays the whole day. I have not lost as much hair as I used to either so that is a huge plus for me. It must be gentle on my hair follicles as well. My hair feels weightless and looks shiny (I have gotten compliments from co-workers) I was hesitant to buy 3 bottles but I’m so glad I did, I even gave one to my sister to try out before I had used it on myself, now I’m wondering if I should have given it away haha, oh well. And she called me to say that she tried it and she loves it as well. I will definitely be buying this shampoo from now on, and I have purchased the Nature’s Gate Herbal Daily Conditioner so I am waiting on that and I will review that one as well. I am also on the prowl for all natural soaps, so if anyone has any ideas, let me know!

This shampoo is awesome! I had doubts that it would work as well as it did (in my experience only sulfate-free shampoos that are much more costly than this have worked well on my hair.) It has made my hair so soft and clean. I read some reviews stating it doesn't remove buildup, but I only wash my hair 2x a week and found that it definitely did remove all the buildup from my hair. My hair is also very prone to retaining residue from heavier shampoos and I cannot ever use conditioner. This shampoo did not leave any residue nor did it leave my hair feeling dry.Some people have rated this product poorly bc it doesn't lather enough which is quite misleading because it's not suppose to lather a lot! It's a sulfate free shampoo so it will produce a mild lather, but if you use a little more than you normally would, you can definitely work up a nice lather.Oh and it smells SO refreshing. The scent has a hint of tea tree oil but is mostly minty. Tea tree oil smells very strong and medicinal on its own, so I am glad it's not an overpowering smell in this shampoo. It has a mild cooling effect on the scalp that lingers after you've rinsed it out. As the hair dries however very little smell is retained, which is great for someone who doesn't enjoy smelling their shampoo all day long.I cannot yet speak to its effectiveness on dandruff but I have faith in tea tree oil! What I can say is that I have lately been seeing a powdery dandruff where I part my hair even after just washing it, but after my first time using his shampoo, I don't see any of that, which is definitely a great sign.

I’ve been using this shampoo for 2 years. I have very long (28 inch) hair. I color my hair black, I do the roots every 3 weeks and if I were to use any other shampoo, the sulphates would strip the fresh color from my roots. This shampoo is a MUST HAVE. It isn’t anything special (smell, color or consistency) it just plain does the job it’s hired to do. Keeps scalp clean, removes dirt and oil and doesn’t affect volume (like I said my hair’s very long and still has volume).

I’ve used this shampoo for a few years now. Smells great, washes out cleanly and you only have to use a little. Keeps hair feeling clean for days on end without the daily wash. Love it. Shipped and received ahead of schedule. GMO free and not that I really am an activist but it’s not tested on animals.

This is the 3rd bottle I'have bought so far and i can surely say this is the best shampoo I've ever tried. I have oily roots and dry ends and this shampoo works great. After shampooing i feel my scalp so clean and fresh. I love that is has natural ingredients, also adds a lot of shine in my hair and the smells is soooo good, like you have flowers in your hair. My package arrived 5 days later the expected date but it's OK. My only con is that the pump doesn't work.
