I was excited to have this lamp come in. The gold was a little brighter than I expected but overall, nice looking and easy to assemble. I am disappointed in the many scratches all over it though. I’m contemplating returning or asking for a replacement as the stand looks almost second hand.

This lamp looks super cheap, the base looks like a very inexpensive finish and doesn't look good quality. The top also didn't line up correctly so the shade is tilted. I do like the soft light it gives off though. The shade is pinker than it looks in the photos.

Just a heads up that the lampshade looks really cheap and dated + the metal color is definitely not what you would describe as "gold" but it closer to a "rose gold". Had to return the item.

Anyway, they slip right off, and can be discarded. The internal and external threads are flawless, and once connected, this fixture is really solid. The harp relies on spring tension (and compression) for installing it and it staying in its base. The chrome slip-rings of the harp base cover up the installation joint for a finished look, and once the harp is installed, it is rock-solid.As far as the time involved in doing the installation - I completed it in less than five minutes.Shade construction: Simple, neat, easy - just snap the clips onto the shade rings one tier/one clip at a time, mate up the velcro bands at the ends, and done. This was my second shade assembly of this type, so it was a breeze. However, note that the top ring should be installed so that the radial rings are facing downward (lesson learned from the first fixture I have).One of the nice feature of these roll-type snap shades is how easily they break down for moving purposes - they simply snap off for rolling and packing. So, less bulk, and less risk of damage.The shade is banded nicely at the top and bottom, and the outer cloth is very nice. The combination of the inner plastic and outer cloth makes the whole shade translucent, with even diffusion and no bright 'hot spot' (note: the pic of the shade next to my cat's portrait looks like it's glowing unevenly, but that's due to the autoexposure of my camera, and not a fault in the shade).The cord has a grounded plug, and it has plenty of length - both between the foot-switch and base, and the foot-switch and wall outlet end.Overall, I'm very impressed by the quality and design of this entire package, the lamp's functions, and the quality of light it provides. This one is a winner for me, (and I finally got to toss out an old, energy-inefficient halogen torchiere).Final Notes: The foot-switch functions only when the socket switch is in the ON position. I think that's an added bonus here, especially for those with toddlers, or perhaps for dog owners. So, if the socket switch is OFF, the light can't be accidentally activated. Lastly, the included LED bulb adds a nice warm ambience, and I like its efficiency, but it is rather small. However, there's plenty of room inside the harp for a larger 'Edison type' LED bulb. I think this fixture will make a great reading lamp, and it's also a great value.

I have owned or put together many lamps like this over the years. In my twenties o worked at a hotel where I was in the maintenance department and had to work on or assemble lamps like this over a period of five years or so. I have to say I am impressed with this lamp because it has a much thinner metal frame or main stem body than what I am used to. This makes it more modern in that it is super thin as well as having a very small base.I though it comical that this came in a small box about the size of a shoebox but a pair of boots where the box is larger and more rectangular. I was wondering where the lampshade was and prepared myself for a wrong item order. Impressively and comically the lamps shade comes rolled up like a poster. I love this and had fun unrolling it and snapping it together. I was able to form the lampshade in less than three minutes. All you do is unravel the roll, then you snap it onto two metal circular frame pieces that accept the mini plastic clamp pieces that are spaced out along the perimeter of the inside of the lampshade.The big surprise of this was the neat foot switch which is made of a sturdy plastic and is reminiscent of the kinds I have seen on Christmas tree lights. This is very awesome and will prevent me from having to rig one in which is what I usually do with floor lamps.The illumination is perfect and the way the lamps shade lights up is perfect. This is design the way I like lamps in that the whole thing is not to large but rather kind of shorter and with a traditional non white bulb looks great.This lamp was easy to assemble and took me about four minutes with most of that time taken up with removing the plastic. This was self explanatory and I did not have to use the directions at all for assembly. I do look at them for safety precaution which everyone should always do for maximum safety.In conclusion I am super happy with this and recommedn it to anyone looking for a reliable and nice looking standup lamp.

I was very impressed with this lamp. Others in the past have lacked in quality or just had issues. This one stands up straight and is firm. The foot pedal is a great touch for quickly getting it on but the light itself also reacts to the actual switch for turning it on and off. I did like the lampshade it came with but with the space it’s currently in felt it needed something bigger so I purchased a larger shade for it separately (pictured here.) Still love it and adds such a classy fixture to our bedroom!
