Maybe OK, Some issues are present
Maybe OK, I purchased 4 of these and presently using two for the last several months and they seem to be working. Yes for a switch being able to turn it on and off is important. However, of all the reviews, 8% are 1 star reviews and most of these say that the switch is not working. The answer to your next question is "yes it is made in china". There is a warning on the package (yes, again,) it is in small print "WARNING----This product contains chemical ,including lead, known in the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash you hands after handling." So if you have small kids, with lead present, in the product, I would not want this in my house Small amounts of lead can cause major problems in neurologic development, elders remember to wash your hands. The Item is "UL Listed" "Made in China" A two pronged polarized switch with a status light that when turned on is supposed to glow. It is located on the top section of the plug. Packaging states "For indoor and dry use only on 110/120vAC receptacle. Rating is 125vAC / 15 AMP1875 Watts. One Year Limited Warranty. Also the item is not white, nor even a white with a little gray that shows on my computer screen. It is not the old color of ivory on older switch plates. To me it is a faint taupe (not cream, nor tan color ) It is light in color and neutral. To some it makes a difference. I asked in questions about the color so if it makes a difference to you, check what others have to say about the colorI purchased this as an add-on item in Dec 2015 for the price of $2.99As I said 2/4 in use are ok, but I have been using only a month. They are turning things off and on. The little light is coming on so far so good. For comparison, I have purchased some Belkin "Conserve" 3 prong off-on switches, with polarized blades. in the recent past, I have had those 6 months and use them on my sonicare rechargeable toothbrush base. These are UL listed and they have another UL marking too. Of the two, both switches continue to work but one switch status light does not work. Yes it functioned maybe 10 times. This Belkin product is made in China. The status light on the Belkin is to the right side when you are facing the plug. Nor is the light that bright. Two Belkin Conserve plugs will fit onto one US wall receptacle (nice feature). These were about $6.00 each. Not certain which will be the better value. I will update with more complaints or failures

Great for holiday decorating
We decorate for every holiday (and a couple that aren"t) and, as most lighted decorations do not have a lline switch, turning a number of these on/off by unplugging is a chore. Found these switches and they are a time and energy saver. Rated a high amperage (20Amps and 120vac) they handle lights easily. We have one controlling a small electrical heater and it handles the load without a problem (even if turned off when the heater element is on). Have found many uses for these for remote lights when used with an extension cord.

Handy Gadgets
We have some lights in our bar and around our patio that need to be plugged in to work since they don't have on/off switches. Previously, I bought an inline on/off switch where I actually cut the cord and rewired the line. That worked great but since I felt lazy this time I decided to try these. They work fine and my wife definitely loves the convenience. I will probably purchase a few more. Some notes:--These obviously need to be plugged in near the outlet so they may not be totally convenient if the outlet is behind furniture, etc. In one case I placed one adapter in between the device's power cord and an extension cord so the device stays plugged in but is controlled by this switch further up the line where I don't have to bend over for it.--The inline on/off switch mentioned above works better in these cases as one can put the on/off switch anywhere on the power cord (i.e. close to the powered device or close to the socket)--These are only for two prong devices. I wish they offered three prong adapters but, as of this writing, haven't been able to find one suitable.

Spend a Little Money Now... Save More Money Later
I have several of these and use them on 2-wire appliances that would otherwise draw a few watts of power whenever they simply left plugged in and turned "off." (Research "phantom loads.") I also use them on fans where I don't want to be using their built-in switch ---which are plainly flimsy and most likely the first thing that would fail.I like that the red light catches my attention when I walk into any room. There actually are some wall duplex outlets which I know would be difficult to replace... and I really do not want to be constantly plugging and unplugging cords from those. These switch taps are relatively cheap... and save a lot of wear and tear on your wall outlets.I also use a number of Leviton 3-Wire Grounded Switch Taps to use with cords that have a ground, but these unfortunately do not have a nice little red light.

Very handy, esp for old folks.
Very handy device. I have three of these (or similar) around the house. This is very handy to control a small cube type space heater on the bathroom floor. Set the heater to medium power and the thermostat to full on near full on. Saves me from having to stoop down every time I step into the room and want some instant heat even just for a few minutes. I just 'aim' the heater with my foot. I would discourage anybody from using a high current device on this and leaving it unattended. This is why I use the heater on mid setting; I can turn it on and leave it heat up the bathroom a few minutes before I get a shower without worrying about this thing melting. I use one to control a floor lamp too. The illuminated switch is nice too, but I have some without that feature.
