Works well, reasonable price, service-oriented vendor
Actually like the functionality of this meter; it outperforms others I've purchased in this price range. I needed something to quickly and easily gauge soil moisture and pH, and this works well. When I opened the meter packaging, it was clear someone else had purchased this meter, used it, badly bent and scratched (possibly in rocky soil) the pH probe; then it was returned and subsequently resold to me as "new." I wanted to test the probe and functionality seemed OK despite the damage caused by original user. I posted a review indicating the damage, and KKMall immediately contacted me (outstanding customer service!) and offered a refund for the meter. Only other downside -- it is kind of difficult to read the meter. I wanted to test moisture about 8" below soil level, so had to dig a small hole and insert meter -- when you're using the meter to test deeper moisture, it's not easy to read -- but for this price, it's a small compromise. This meter will get a lot of use around my garden. Soil is very alkaline so this really helps in amending soil, and especially knowing when to deep-root water young trees.

Did not function properly
This meter did not work, unfortunately. Not sure if the unit I received is defective, or it is just unreliable. The light meter, although the lowest priority to me, did not move the needle until it was a mere 2 inches from a 60-watt light bulb, and even then it only registered around 400 on the scale (1/3 of total). The water meter could not get the needle to do more than bounce when inserted into any soils (those I knew were dry, and those that had been watered much the hour before). So I put the probes in a glass of water, and it registered wetness as a 5 out of 10. I may not be a hydrologist by career, but I'm thinking that may be off a bit. The pH meter never budged off of 8, which is the bottom, and I don't have a practical way of testing further. This last was something that was fairly important as I have a few plants that need more acidic soil to thrive.Unfortunately because I bought this too early in the year on a lightning deal, now that the temps are finally warming I used it after my return window closed.I will NOT be re-purchasing this, and I warn against others purchasing it.

Really easy to use
Really easy to use. Wish the pH range was a little broader. Could have been digital so numbers could be read more accurately. Then again if it were digital it would have been more expensive, But, for the price it's pretty good.

Coming up roses
I bought this because my son gave a beautiful yellow bush for my birthday last year. This year I noticed that the leaves started to develop holes in them. I read up on it and the holes in the leaves could be that the PH in the soil is off. I ordered the 3 in 1 Soil tester to see if that was the problem. This little gadget tells you moisture, PH and alkaline levels in the soil, and it also measures the light that the plant needs for proper growth. I use it indoors for house plants and outdoors for all my plantings especially my rose bush. The price is "really" right for everything this meter does. If you are a gardener or just have house plants, you can have beautiful lush thriving greenery with this meter. I definitely recommend it.

Great for the most part
Very useful sensor. I haven't calibrated anything scientifically, i.e. the pH reader, but it does seem to give me readings that make sense. For example, I tested common pee spots in my yard for my dogs, and the reading was around 5.5 (more acidic) whereas other parts of the yard were in the range of 6 to 6.5. My major beef with it is that the water sensor skyrockets whenever there is a hint of moisture, from what I've found. It definitely isn't good to have your dirt as dry as a popcorn fart, but I wish there was more sensitivity, because I am concerned about overwatering more than anything, living in Houston. I don't know if the clay soils make the moisture meter not work as well or what is going on, but there is literally no way to calibrate it, so I will have to make due.

Works as it says!
After reading through the reviews - A couple of things need to be said first:1) you cannot leave this in soil or water. You place it - read it - and remove / clean it.2) it is not great for hard soil. The probes are VERY thin and easy to bend / break.Neither of these are a gig on the product - it is what it is. I am sure it will prove extremely useful to an informed consumer.I get good (close enough for me) light, ph and water readings immediately. I am happy with the analog display and the absence of batteries.I would buy again and do recommend.

Unable to make meter work
Couldn't determine the ph with this one.measured the same soil several times and had varying results.

I would purchase a higher quality soil meter except I think the things are pretty useless and silly anyways
The soil meter would constantly say that there wasn't enough liquid in the pot even though the pot was overflowing with water. I set it to the moisture setting and then I dipped the two little prongs in water and it said dry.I would purchase a higher quality soil meter except I think the things are pretty useless and silly anyways. I just wait until the top soil is dry and then I put water in it.I got suckered into this because some sales lady recommeded I get one because "you can't always tell when the top soil is dry." I'm glad she forgot to charge me for this thing because they suck and at least I got to return it when I bought it from Amazon.
