Great to support your parenting and love
My daughter has read this many times. When she feels like she doesn't fit in, because she's amazinginly creative and hyper, she will read the book. You must be a responsible adult and talk to her about things too. The book supports parenting. Not the other way around

Great simple to explain about ADHD to the young girl in your life
I loved this book and my daughter did as well. It gave her an understanding of what ADHD is about and she is not the only one. Many kids are told what their issues are "You have ADD or Asthma" but don't know what it is and why. Books like this are helpful.

Should be required reading for all young girls with ADHD
This will help your daughter, or son find some humor and fun in the situations that arise from having this condition. My daughter got them when she was 8 and read them all in a week. She even used them for book reports at school.

Realistic, But Limited View
We are parents with ADHD of an eight-year old girl with ADHD. When we found this book about eight-year old Phoebe Flower who has ADHD, we thought it would help raise our daughter's self-esteem and give her confidence about her life-long condition. In part 1 (formerly known as book 1: That's What Kids Are For) Phoebe "saves the day" by climbing a flag pole and is hailed a hero by school kids and staff. This proves to be a mixed-message for Phoebe (and could be for other children) because her later bold actions land her in the principal's office many times. Phoebe's mother, who does little to work with Phoebe, is constantly frustrated with her behavior, even though she confides in Phoebe about her own focus difficulties when she was a child. Phoebe's sister repeatedly teases her about her challenges in front of adults who do not effectively discipline the behavior. We certainly understand that Phoebe's mother is trying her best to be a good mom to her three children, especially since she is divorced and has to be employed outside the home. We empathize with Phoebe's struggle and we were glad to see that she succeeds despite her circumstances. Thankfully there are other characters in the story that help Phoebe shine. In the 21st Century we have the information and experience to strongly advocate for our children with neurological science, IEP's, 504 plans, homeschooling, balanced nutrition, behavior modification and, if we choose, medication (Phoebe takes medication in the end). Although this book is well-written and realistic, we were disappointed by its somewhat negative, limited view.

This book is a great conversation starter
This book is a great conversation starter. It helped my daughter relate to someone and make her new diagnosis seem not so strange. A must read for any family with a child diagnosed with ADD.

Absolutely Fabulous Read!!!
Barbara Roberts has such a creative way of depicting the adventures of Phoebe. Her ability to make characters' dialogue very real is outstanding. She is able to get into the heart and soul of a girl with ADHD. Read it alone. Read it with your child. Read it with your grandchild but by all means read it!!!
