Vibrant Colors and Great Result!
Wow! I bought this during Prime day for only 13$. I am a art student and use lots of high-quality brands such as Prismacolor, Winser and Newton colored pencils and watercolor pencils. I decided to take a plunge and say "why not?" on these pencils since the price was so low. It wouldn't hurt. When this came the package was fine. The box it comes with is pretty long, but I wasnt really bothered with that since it can easily showcase all the colors. All the pencils came in great condition, none had broken lead in it like some other reviews had said. Most of the cons I have are not huge problems but things I would like to point out. Also, in the picture with all the swatch names its just the labeling I gave them for this review/personal usage.CONS:-My main issue is the colors that are included in this set. There are really only two pure reds, 10a and 11a, and 10a is really more of a salmon or coral color. There is also only one vibrant orange, 13a. All the other "oranges" are just a variation of peach or tan. And here's the problem; I REALLY want more oranges and I wouldn't have any problem with a lack of oranges IF there were more reds. If there were more reds then I could easily mix the colors or use water to make variations of orange.-I feel like that there are a lot of colors that look really similar, especially the greens, blues, and teals have very similar tones. This goes the same for the purple and pinks. Again, I really wish that these look-alike colors would just be replaced with reds, oranges, browns, and grays. Maybe some more metallic colors would be cool.-A really big issue for a neat freak like me is that there is no labeling of any kind on the pens! They dont have names, or at least have some numbers on them! Now I have to label all of them by myself so I can reference them to my swatch sheet.-This goes into the one above, not a huge deal, but a few colors can be misleading by the colored pencil and what actually comes again. This can be resolved with a swatch sheet and *ahem* organization.-This is very small but when you lay down a color very hard it is a bit tricky to use water and blend it out. I solved this by just covering the area I want to cover with water first and gently putting down the color.PROS:-The vibrancy in some of these colors are stunning! From the horrible pictures I took of the swatch sheet and Rapunzel (My favorite Disney Princess!) you cant really tell. Most impressed with the purples, thats why I choose to draw Rapunzel.-Really easy to blend and when you lay down the wet paint from the pencil it almost feels like your doing a tattoo or something (Though I have never had/done one). The effect of the blending and layering is endless!-Other then the reds and oranges, the color selection is really nice! I though I didnt really need to use the darker set of the pencils but after testing them I used them a lot. Nice variety and *most* of the time has the colors I need.-Once it dries the color is smooth and nice. Some cheap watercolors often come out as cakey and give off a powder, and looks streaky. This is the opposite.-This is a small pro but the two brushes that come with this set is not bad. I decided to use these brushes instead of my fancy ones for the purpose of the review. The brush does have a pretty fine point when wet down and can make fine details. The bristles arent to long so you do have good control. Would not use these for really big pieces as they are small.TIPS:-BUY WATERCOLOR PAPER. I hear so many complaints in the reveiws about making there paper wavy and tear up. Well of course! If you use regular paper its the equivalent of just pouring water on it. Watercolor paper is not very expensive and is NEEDED TO MAKE WATERCOLOR PICTURES, no matter which brand of paints.-Would not really buy this just for your normal colored pencils. These are very soft (to be expected) and will break if you want full coverage of something. If you do not like/lacking the paper to smooth the color with water then do not buy these.OVERALL-Very good quality brushes for a great price! Very large set of vibrant colors and the result is really great.

So Pleasantly Surprised!
My first experience with Watercolor Pencils involved a supposedly 'high-end' set of 15 purchased at Michael's for approximately the same price as this set of 72 (there's a sucker born every minute), when I first became obsessed with this particular hobby. I was SO disappointed, as they were completely useless in regard to the purpose for which they were intended, and I haven't touched them since. :(I decided to take a chance on these, and I'm so glad I did. I passed them up during Prime Days, but Amazon gave me a second chance to acquire them at a comparable price, so I snagged them without a second thought (sometimes I think Amazon knows exactly what I need even if I don't). I purchased these for the sole purpose of creating face-ups on resin BJDs, and the ease of application (they glide on so smoothly) plus adhesion to the resin without any primer beforehand, buffing the surface of the resin, nor having to build layer upon layer to get the color saturation I want has made me a total Magicfly fan. :)While doing swatches, I just didn't see the color duplication that others have reported seeing; maybe there's something to be said for 60 year-old eyesight (but make no mistake, I am intensely anal and picky when it comes to my art). Nor did I receive a single broken lead in the bunch. In short, I will purchase Magicfly products again without hesitation. Many thanks to Magicfly for quality products and to Amazon for unbeatable value and second chances!

They look great so far!
A few Christmases back, family had gotten me some smaller sets of watercolor pencils, and after using them a while I really wanted more; a bigger collection to use for more doodles, drawings and sketches. Before purchasing these I scanned the reviews hard, and I took about a week or two to decide if $16 was worth it for 72 pencils, especially with the balance of reviews being kind of iffy as to whether they're good or not. Well I took the leap and decided heck, why not. Immediately upon their arrival I opened the packaging.First of all, the tin was way better than what I was expecting, it's even hinged so I don't have to muscle a lid entirely off, then set it somewhere else where I'll probably end up bending it. Second thing I notice, these pencils look bright, seem longer than some colored pencils and look quite well made. I pulled the top tray out and notice that two pencils on the bottom tray have the tips of their lead broken off. I sharpen them to see if the whole pencil is now brittle, to find out they're in great condition still and with watercolor pencils, the broken pieces of lead don't go to waste; I'll use them to paint with. I figure those tips were broken because they're longer than the tray space they're shoved into, not to mention the box they were shipped in (a thin white cardboard box, thinness akin to the kind used for pastries, my reason for 4/5 stars), but nothing else was damaged. I checked out the brushes, and while their farrules were attached a bit cheaply, crimping them with a pliers affixes them tightly and the bristles of the brushes look good to paint with.I wanted to test how the pencils held up, so I made a swatch page of the colors shaded onto squares, with one part left dry and the other had a damp brushed dragged through it. The top tray is the paper marked with 1's, while the bottom tray coordinates to the page marked with 2's, and they go from the side with just pencils, to the end where the brush is stored. All the colors straight on were pigmented, bright and the leads are very strong yet soft to paper so the color goes on well, and as the photos show, the watercolor paint effect is very nice. From the test the colors don't seem to have any that are too similar from one pencil to the next, unless you're giving only a short glance. All in all, I'm very happy with this set and how the pigments held through water, as well as the quality of everything from the case to the actual pencils themselves. Only fix needed is a better box so they've got more padding when they're put into the shipping box/envelope.
