Great affordable Tool
Plenty of functions and does exactly what it says in description.Voltage detection and temperature detection was new for me and I loved it. I compared its readings to another temperature detector with me and its quite close, like 1 degree off or the same. And the carry bag that has that thing out to pick it up from? Nice đQuite a deal for such a good price.

Love it! Don't know where you can get more meter for the money!
For the money this is excellent value. A wide range of functions and it appears to meet published specs or better.(except temp probe) Great value for a machine that does so much and is so accurate. Claimed 0.5% on DCV and 0.8% on AC. Ohms typically 0.8%. I measured a 390ohm resistor (5% tolerance) and read 387.9ohms. Not a standard, but it does give confidence in the reading. I compared DC voltage measurements to another multimeter I have and they read within 0.025% of each other. Again no standards, but gives me confidence in the meter. I measured frequency from 20Hz to 2 Mhz(max on my function generator) and read 9.99Khz on the VC99 while showing 10khz on my function generator. Since they read within 0.1% of each other I have some confidence that the VC99 meets its claimed accuracy. Input sensitivity on freq. was much better than the claimed 2.8Vpp(0.7rms). I got a solid lock at 0.2mvpp at 10khz. Duty cycle on square wave test was accurate, confirmed identical to function gen readout and also observed wave form on scope.Cap test. Caps in the 400uf range take about 5 secs to read(charge) while smaller caps are much faster. Read one cap at 90picofarad which shows as 0.09nf on the screen. This is at its lowest scale of 40nf. Stated accuracy ranges from 2.5% to 5% depending on range.Temperature probe was quite off at room temp. Showed 23C against 19.6 actual(17% error?) I also held the probe against my soldering iron reading 333C and 300C on hi and low settings, showing that it works at these temperatures, but I could not confirm accuracy of reading, however it is certainly in the right range..I have not checked the current functions but have every reason to expect it will meet stated accuracy of 1.2% for AC below 6amp, 2% for 20amp scale. DC current claims 1% to 600ma and 2% for the 6A and 20 amp scale. Also have not checked the transistor hFE function but I assume it will work as stated. The probes that come with it work fine and are comfortable to hold. The flip stand on the back is a little flimsy and only locks in one position which I think is too low of an angle but that is a small thing. All and all, a great meter with good accuracy and a wealth of extra worthwhile functions!

Proster 6000 the "Swiss Army Knife" of DVMM's!
This is the âSwiss Army knifeâ of DVMMs! Okay, it may be missing one or two features, but it pretty much carries all the rest. From the start, I found the Proster DVMM 6000 to be easy to get used to after having used my 20-year-old RadioShack meter for⊠well, 20 years.I must admit, I was impressed with the meters quality and âfeelâ. It came with a small manual, which was sufficient to explain the different settings, a pair of well-made probes, a liquid temperature sensor probe, and a handy storage/carrying case.I compared the Proster DVMM 6000 to two other meters that I have. The RadioShack DVMM, which was RadioShackâs best meter back in 1995/97, and is also an auto range meter, but otherwise, has a lot less features than the Proster. The âother meterâ (I decided not to name it in this review), I compared it with was only a few days old and it contained all the features of the Proster as well as the two features the Proster doesnât have. However, that âother meterâ was not an auto range meter and as far as âconsâ go, a meter without the auto range feature is perhaps, carrying a âhuge conâ.On the other hand, auto range meters are typically 3 times slower than a âmanual rangeâ meter, (at least in this price range). The Proster DVMM 6000 was faster than my RadioShack meter and both being auto range meters, I would say thatâs a plus. The Proster DVMM 6000 has so many features that itâs easier to name the features that it doesnât have. In fact, of the âpopular and sought afterâ features, the Proster DVMM 6000 does not have a backlighting capability for its LCD screen, and it does not have the âNCVâ feature, (noncontact voltage detection). The fact that the Proster does not have a backlit screen was more significant to my needs than the lack of an NCV. I do tend to use a DVMM and dim light conditions and when it came to spotting the smaller symbols, I found it difficult. However, I will say that the Proster does have a very large LCD screen, which is easy to see and read in a reasonably lit environment. The NCV feature was not really a problem for me. This feature is not reliable enough to forgo using test leads on AC power outlets to tell if itâs live or not. It so happens that the second, âother meterâ, that I mentioned earlier, does have the NCV feature.I found the NCV feature on that meter, failed to indicate three of seven AC power outlets as âliveâ. Even their manual insists that the NCV feature should not be relied upon and instead, one should always use the probes to make the final determination and I tend to agree. As I said earlier, the probes included with the Proster are well made. However, as most meters sold for under $50, the Prosterâs probes are not capable of accepting any other attachments or tip changes. You may want to add a higher quality pair of probes to your cart when you purchase a meter. Otherwise, you wonât be able to add alligator and small-wire test clips & leads. As far as accuracy goes, I was able to confirm with reasonable confidence, that the Proster DVMM 6000 was more accurate than the RadioShack meter. However, I must point out that I have no equipment certified to test DVMM accuracy. I used a comparative test method for acquiring my results. I applied my single function generator, my DC voltage power supply, and several different âprecision resistorsâ, (which had a very tight deviation tolerance), to make the final assessment.Between that and the fact that the RadioShack meter has been in use for over 20 years, I feel confident that the discrepancy between the two meters was due to the inaccuracy of the RadioShack meter. The Proster seems to be within the tolerances specified in the manual.I gave the Proster 5-Stars because I was not only impressed with it; I was impressed with Prosterâs customer support and communication. I had the opportunity to experience this first hand when I contacted them with several questions.I definitely recommend the Proster DVMM 6000 for anyone whoâs trying to keep their purchase of a decent DVMM under $50.00 and likes to know that there is a solid, fast responding customer support in Prosterâs infrastructure.Rich
