ION High-Performance Ice Auger

I've used Jiffys my whole life with over 50years experience on the ice in every condition you can think of. Wow this auger is the only way to go. Talk about drilling a hole through the ice with ease. I use the 8in and I have not one complaint. The Average thicknesses of ice on the lakes I fish is 24in or better and it has Plenty of battery life for most to find fish. Unless your running around looking for the big school drilling hundreds of holes across and back and forth the lake all day then you might want to get two batterys. Quite,light weight and no gas smell on you or in the ice shack. I'll never go back to a gas auger. If I had to ? Yes It would definitely be the Good Ol'School Jiffy.

I have used this ice auger several times and never had any problems. The instructions say to charge the battery every time you go out, but I've used it three times without a recharge. Possibly I don't drill enough holes, but as my daughter says, "if you're catching fish, why move to another hole.The best aspect is the final punch through the ice, it's very smooth. My daughter's husband went out and bought the same auger after using mine. I would recommend this tool for anyone who enjoys ice fishing.

Hello I just got my x8 3weeks ago and I think it's the best auger ever made. I've had strikemaster gas jiffy propane and my brother has the new strikemaster electric and by far I think this is the best hands down. I charged it fully and took it out several times at about 1500 plus inches later the battery had finally died out! I have about 7 inches here in southern Michigan. On the review on the clogging up on the bottom. Yes it will like any other auger when it's below zero. I guarantee this is why. Mine did the first time this past weekend with below weather. Normal for my past 25 years of ice fishing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for light weight, quiet and quick fishing with no worries. Also the reverse in cold weather when in the water will help kick off slush on those cold days and won't have as much issue!Marcellus Mike

This unit is unbelievable! I have been using it for two winters and it works great. I have drilled as many as 20 holes and still have enough battery to keep going. I live in Upper Michigan where the ice is thick. No more finicky gas augers to mess with or gas odor on my hands and gloves. Good for me, and good for the environment. I received it at a good price and very promptly from Amazon.

Going from a hand auger to the ION X 8” auger is night and day. The ability for this auger to cut clean holes without a lip at the bottom of the hole is something that makes this even better. It is quiet too.After drilling close to 100 holes over six outings this auger has not slowed down and still cuts clean and fast as the first hole. As for battery life, I have only charged it once before the first trip and it still has 2/3 battery left.The reverse feature work great for flushing out the hole after cutting. I can drill a hole and reverse the slush right down and have a clear hole ready to fish without ever having to grab an ice scoop.If you buy the ION X, you will not be disappointed.

This was my first power auger and it is awesome. No maintenance, simple to use, light weight, and powerful. Loses a star because it does tend to bog down in deep/slushy ice, requiring frequent hole clearing.

I have been ice fishing for over 30 years,a bit skeptical about a battery operated auger.Well i will tell you this ion cut through 2 feet of hard ice in 5-6 seconds!! No gas auger i have ever used even comes close to this. Cut over 30 holes never slowed down at all,.my buddy laid out tip-ups where he wanted the holes and could hardly stay ahead of me. wow,wow wow!! well worth the price!!

As advertised it cuts like a dream I don’t have to carry gas or oil but as with a previous one I had you have to be very careful with theCutting edges they are mounted to an aluminum cast foundation which is brittle but I assume that with a watchful eye on the handling of it hopefully it will endure. The ability to cut ice is amazing, too bad the blade foundation couldn’t have been of a tougher material manufactured not cast.

My son tested this and he thinks its just great. Of course he can't use it till ice fishing starts, he's quite confident that it will do the job. The shipping and service was fast and efficient. M very pleased!
