PRO, SUPERABSORBENT Natural Biodegradable Water Storing Polymer, Water Saver (40lb)

I purchased this for a soil amendment to retain moisture while new native perennials established in a southern facing flower bed.At first, I thought they sent me a bag of sand! The granules are mixed with sand, which actually helped me when I was tilling the soil to break it up a bit.After planting and watering in well, I could definitely tell the plants that had this mixed in around them seemed to be more resilient to the dry weather we had this August vs other beds that did not. All the plants look great. I will be using this from now on in all my planting

First of all I had to get over the shock of the small packaging. It clearly states it is an 8oz package but it is sometimes hard to imagine the size of something until you see it in real life. So this package is about the size of your palm or iPhone (depending which one you have: ) I ordered this product to add to my hanging baskets. I usually have petunias in hanging baskets decorating my porch, but this also requires consistency in watering them. As hanging baskets usually dry up faster I wanted to try something that would retain water in the soil and allow me to extend time a little longer between waterings. I think these granules absorbed at least 4 times its dry amount and by that time the consistency is like applesauce. So far it works ok, but what I am not quite sure yet is how it is going to affect the root system for plants.

So this is like if I were to take orbeez grind it to powder and put it on my lawn.I put a tablespoon of it in a glass of water. It filled half the glass within an hour with a jello like goo.Put it in a feetilizer spreader and it covered about half my back yard. My lot is a third of an acre. I'll compare that part of the yard with the rest of the yard and decide whether to buy more.

This really does work and a little goes a long way. I live in the desert and my backyard is basically clay and roadbase. This keeps the grass and ground moist for 3 days after watering and I cut my water time in half.

this is a very fine powder - be VERY careful not to breathe any in - and with water is just gooop. I get the idea, and like the idea, it's just that this won't do it.

8oz not big enough for anything larger than a gallon, good luck outside. Anything else on Amazon is a better value than this

I split the bag up between a few house plants I have and it does seem to be working. I tested some of granules and they plump up when you add water. I mixed this in with the soil in my plants and I haven't had to fill up the auto watering bottles as often as I used to. You don't get a ton of this for the price so it's really only worth it for a few houseplants. I'm not sure how well it would work outside but if I could get larger quantities of this, it would be worth putting in my planters.

I like the idea that it conserves water. I hope it works. I wish the delivery time was a bit faster.
