Crossbar for Transport on Step-Through Style Bikes

Works perfectly, I'm so glad to have found this! I have an older ebike and it really heavy. My bike rack sits high up on the back window of my car so I have to really high to put it on. The bike has a curved frame, so I would have to put one side on and then try to lift up enough to put in the other side. Then, of course, the handlebars would turn and hit me in the face, knock me off balance and I'd have to start again. The first time this summer loading took over a 1/2 hour, super frustrating. I was shopping new racks and I stumbled onto this device. Total gamechanger! Last trip took 2 tries leaving and 1 try coming home, this thing is great!!!

Oooof - I had no idea that installing a bike carrier on the back of the car would be so fraught with niggles and frustrations. Just as my husband was about to return the whole shebang to the store, this Allen Sports top tube saved the day! We tried both the Tule and the Yakima before this but neither were adjustable and the hooks were way too big, causing them to slide all the way up until they met resistance - under the saddle on one side and under the handlebars on the other. This wouldn’t have been a problem if the handlebars and saddle were at the same height, but because this is a hybrid trail bike and not a racing bike, my handlebars are higher than the saddle, causing the top tube to sit on the diagonal. When placed on the bike rack, the angle caused the bike’s front wheel to hang lower than the trailer hitch without enough clearance. Because the Allen Sports top tube is adjustable and because the hook is so much smaller, with the help of a $1 split ring from the plumbing aisle of our local hardware store serving as a stopper on the handlebar stem, we were able to get the bar to sit horizontally. The result is that the bike finally sits alongside my husband’s traditional frame bike and we can carry both on the back of the rack. And the Allen Sports model was a third of the cost of the Tule and Yakima bars!! Yay and thank you Allen Sports!!

Worked perfectly to put my cruiser bike on the car rack. Without it was a struggle. If you have a beach cruiser bike it’s worth the money. So easy to use too

Worked out well it kind of converts a girls bike to a boys bike so you can hook it to a bike rack on the back of a RV bike rack and then you can take it off when you go to use it

need this when hauling bike woth no cross bar, needed to hold bike down, expandable and works great, this has to be bought separately when buying a bike rack to haul bikes like a step thru

Works well for ladies bikes! I’m not sure I would’ve got away with using a trunk bike rack on my Golf if it wasn’t for this, as the bike would’ve been very crooked and close to the ground. If you don’t have a hitch and need a truck rack for a hatchback or smaller car, I highly recommend this for a more comfortable and secure fit. However, If you drive an SUV, I’d say it’s more preference if you want it to be level on the rack or not! (By the way, I bought this along with the Allen Sports truck rack)
