The shemagh, also known as the keffiyeh or Arab scarf, is a simple yet efficient way to protect your face and neck from sun, wind and sand. It also works well as alternative winter headwear, particularly in areas with snow and strong winds. Although most are cotton, warmer, faster-drying cotton-wool blends are also available. Styles of wearing the shemagh vary, but wrapping the scarf around the head and face provides optimal protection from the elements. Instructions for Wearing a Shemagh: ? [Step 1] Fold the shemagh into a triangle. Wrap it around the back and over the top of your head, with the folded edge across your forehead, making sure that about two-thirds of the material is on your left. The right end ought to be long enough to come to your chest. ? [Step 2] Use your left hand to pinch the shemagh about 3 or 4 inches from the folded edge and let the edge hang forward. ? [Step 3] Let go of the right end. Using your left hand, hold the edge of the shemagh next to your left cheek and hold it near your left cheekbone. After you do this, use your right hand to pull the left end of the shemagh across your face, over your nose. ? [Step 4] Continue to wrap the shemagh around your face and head until you get it back over your left shoulder. Grip the right tail and hold it to keep from pulling the shemagh off your head as you wrap. Work your hands down toward the ends as you wrap. ? [Step 5] Pull the shemagh as tight as needed to feel comfortable. At the end of the process, take both ends and, somewhere near your right temple, tie them in a knot. What an absolutely fantastic and quality shemagh! I am very impressed with this shemagh. Most sold throughout stores are often cheap and are subpar but not this one! Stay away from other cheap-o's on amazon and just pull the trigger on this one. I wore this one In a snow storm for three days and was extremely pleased that even when wet I stayed extremely warm. It's breathable and dries quick. It protects your face and skin like it's supposed to and did I mention the quality is superb? Because it is!

Absolutely LOVE!
Straight out of the package material is rough. However a machine wash (I didn't hand wash) softened it up nicely and most comfortably to the touch. Versatile for different uses, lots of youtube videos will prove. Mine however is fashion and warmth. Now that the colder season has arrived this scarf provides optimal face coverage when riding my bike. The fine cotton mesh keeps the cold out yet allows me to breathe easily. Coverage also includes my neck front and back. I now want to get one in every color!

and the material is nice and soft
Looking for a versatile "bandanna" type item for my camping kit, I came across this Shemagh and thought I'd give it a try. Seems to be made well, and the material is nice and soft, and not as thin as other I have seen. Subtle colors in green work better for my environment. I have not laundered this yet so I don't know how much shrinkage or fading to expect. Sit is now, it's nice and large and good color.

These are great scarves!
Years ago I went to a concert and saw a young woman with a scarf artfully wrapped around her head. I don't think it was a shemagh but the way she wore it was similar. I've finally found a scarf that I can wear that way! These are very nicely made, versatile, and fun to wrap. It has become my favorite accessory.Price is reasonable and shipping was quick.

Like it so much I bought another
Like it so much I bought another. Keep one in 2 different day packs/bags. I live in Arizona and the sun & wind can be brutal. Dust storms can ruin your day also. Hats aren’t always practical but a scarf like this can help a lot. Really versatile.

Good deal, a bit on the small side. Very light and versatile though
It's a bit small. I couldn't get the tuck/tie points like I see in videos online, but you can figure out where to tuck/tie on your own. It works well, kept my neck cool on my hikes and is nice to wipe the sweat out of your eyes as well. I'm sure there are better Shemaghs out there, but for the price I'm happy enough for now.

Perfect for Burning Man or casual wear.
I bought this for Burning Man, and I will continue to wear it as I travel around the world. So handy to use. Its large enough to fit around my full size adult male head, and still be able to tie into a knot. Washes well by hand in cold water. So handy, and I continue to get compliments on it.
