great printer, great price!
So allow me to start with this, this is my second 3d printer, and I got off to a rather rocky start. It didn't seem to keep a decent stream of filament going, it hickup-ed a few times and I even found out I had a defective model. SO why would I rate this anything above a 2, simple. CUSTOMER SERVICE! It is easy to rate a product and it's company as great when you luck out and never seem to have problems, but when the chips are down knowing that they back up their product can turna good product into a great product. A couple of the problems i had initially were my own the filament I was using was mis spooled and got stuck (something I watch for more closely now!) the printer woks better on larger prints if you print a set of support arms from their website's blog (not necessary but good to know) and most of this was info i got from calling in with concerns. My first experience in 3d printing was an XYZ Davinci 1.0 with a bigger build area, heated bed, and the works my problem was that they were some of the worst customer service I have experienced with any product ever. I would have an issue (and trust me the Davinci wasn't have as user friendly or stable as this one!) I would have to message the company and even when I would explicitly say (I am having issues with the bed and print's not connecting I have calibrated the bed to x=230 y=238 z=23 (well within their tollerances) I would get message back from XYZ asking "have you tried calibrating your print bed?" It was beyond maddening and enough to make me say to hell with the notion of 3d printing. The Mod T- is night and Day, I have been using it for about 5 months now printing everything from battletech mecha in 28mm scale, to world war 2 tanks and vehicles, even completed a 2.5' waterline submarine for a uboat nest diorama I am building. The mod- t has better resolution than the XYZ, is way easier to set up and even will take filaments from other companies (though I have been warned by them to avoid white and black from hatchback, as they have seen problems with those 2 colors, the spool of navy blue I used was just fine BTW) for the cost you can do a lot worse, and frankly I am considering a 2nd one just to increase my output.

Decent, quiet 3D printer, good customer service
This is my first experience with 3D printing - First, I really like this machine. It works great for my purposes.I should say that my initial experience with this machine was not good - when my printer arrived, I set it up and started a test print, following the instructions to the letter, and the printer abruptly buried the hot end into the plastic printer bed. I called New Matter and gave them my machine's serial number, described the problem, and they told me that the machine was defective, that a small number of defective machines got through quality control and I was just unlucky. But New Matter sent me a new machine and printer bed fairly quickly, and the new one works fantastically.I've had the new machine for many weeks now and I've printed many things. My favorite thing about the printer for sure is just how quiet it is with the acrylic lid on. It's not silent by any means but the print bed rolls around on the rollers with a low rumble, and it's easily muffled further or even drowned out by the sound of a fan or air conditioner. The removable bed is also really nice, as is the flexible print tray that you can just bend to pop off your prints. Be prepared to scuff up the surface pretty quickly - I got maybe 6 prints off before I started having adhesion issues, but scratching it up with the brass brush they give you with the printer is all you need to make prints stick. I have had occasional adhesion issues even on a scratched bed but it's rare, probably 95% of the time everything sticks well to the bed if it's sufficiently scuffed up.Print quality is probably better on other printers, but I've gotten some pretty nice quality prints in my (inexperienced) opinion. I'm also totally fine with thoroughly cleaning and sanding down prints that need them, so heavy print lines or rough marks from supports fusing too well to the print don't bother me much when they occur. That said, if that's something that's important to you, you should do some thorough research and watch a lot of videos of people using the machine and getting prints on youtube.I give this machine 5 stars for 3 reasons - it's super quiet, it gives me exactly what I was looking for out of a 3D printer, and the customer service with the company is excellent. If I ever have issues with the machine in the future I have more confidence that New Matter can help me some way or another, after my bad experience with my first, defective machine.

Not an OK experience.
The printer did an OK job initially. That is when the company was still in business and the printer could connect to their site via wireless. I downloaded some sample files and printed them. The quality of the final object was a bit rough, but alright. Then I downloaded another sample file from a different site and loaded it. Again the final piece that the printer produced was OK. It showed the groves of the layers and was not smooth. But it was OK. The company was going out of business as of Feb 28, 2018 and recommended to download a third party piece of software to substitute for their closed "on line" facility that the printer previous HAD to connect to in order to print anything. The third party software was hit and miss and the instructions provide by New Matter were minimal. So my experience with the printer since the company closing has been totally negative with a great deal of wasted material, and a complete lack of production..
