We had a leak inside a wall and hated to pull out more sheet rock than necessary. I ordered the moisture meter MM900 along with it and found it was accurate at detecting leaks.

General Tools MP905 Deep Wall Moisture Sensor
I had water leak into a wall cavity. I was able to put small holes in the wall to confirm where the water stopped so I did not have to remove more sheetrock than necessary. I also drilled holes into the exterior plywood and stuck these inside to check the inner moisture of the wood. Worked great!I also purchased the MMD900 meter to use with it, which also worked great!

Inconsistent Measurements
Unlike the pins these probes allow longer reach into deeper areas such as walls, but it seems hard to get a reading unless there is literally extremely excessive moisture. Lower moisture readings can be hard to determine on hard surfaces. Insulation needs to be saturated before it will provide a hope of a reading. It helps to press the probes against a surface to get a reading. Watch out that you don't touch the probes together because it will read max moisture. Would be nice if there was some way to prevent touching probes to each other in deep areas. Also watch they don't touch metal as it will read high moisture levels. Works but needs a bit of experience read and interpret data.
