The plastic on this is lightweight and feels and sounds cheaper when tapped, than other more solid, less flexible and heavyweight plastics which resemble those on 'victorian' toilets.However it is a quality moulding, no distortion, no thinner sections, bumps, lumps or rough edges. This plastic has the advantage that it conducts heat less readily than the mentioned heavyweight 'victorian' plastic seats, and there is far less opportunity of sitting down on a cold seat. The plastic is similar to what you would find on an upright electric kettle.Fixing is easy and instructions are clear which also includes all the tools you need. I got my toolbox out - not needed!Fixing is secure, no slippage or movement. The soft close definitely is, and takes longer to close than other seats I've installed. I put this down to the lighter plastic which has less weight so it takes its own leisurely time to close. This might be an issue if you are an impatient flusher who only flushes with lid down. You can always assist it by pushing it down with hand but that defeats the point.One to buy if you don't like stone cold seats on cold days.

Love the fact you can take the seat off, wash it, then simply click it back in place.

Good replacement product, reasonably easy to install. Would have liked it to have been a little more substantial and cheaper but overall satisfied.
