My son was able to marry the fan and the remote and it worked!

This remote is much better than the earlier version. It lights up when a person is in proximity to it making it handy in the dark. Changes fan speed easily and provides an indication of the current setting. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a ceiling fan remote. I bought mine at Lowes for about 30$.
