Make up for your mulch

I highly recommend this product. I sprayed mulch that was sun bleached and comparing to the new mulch I had just spread and I was hard pressed to see any difference. If you want to just freshen up your mulch beds this is a great and inexpensive option for you.

Looks great - costs almost nothing!

I had a large area to cover, and I'm pretty cheap. I got a shredded tree for free from Chip Drop, but it was natural tree color. After spreading it and letting it dry, I used this chip dye with a 4-gallon backpack pump sprayer and got these results. I'm really happy! This was two coats, and probably a 150 sq.ft. area. I still have over half a gallon left. Mix per instructions or you could get clogged sprayer if the mixture is too thick. This stains the top layer and a little further down, but keep a small spray bottle of dye handy to fix any areas where unstained chips get stirred to the top (not really a problem if you're just touching up faded mulch or chips). Including before and after pics.

Pine straw color.

Works better than I thought. Used 4 oz in a gallon of water. Last for months. Will stain what ever you put in on. Will buy again. I used the brown.

Really spruces up the flower bed!

I am very pleased with this product. I have a large wooded area behind my house and about the first 20 feet of it are like one big flowerbed—way too much to mulch. I mulched all along the edge about 2-3 back and then I used this colorant to color the SOIL so that the unmulched area of light-colored soil no longer looks so starkly different from the mulched area. The first of my photos shows before I used the colorant, and the second photo is after. Of course, colored soil does not look exactly the same as colored mulch—but I think the color is far more uniform than it was before I used the colorant. The third photo is a flower bed in my front yard where I just dug out some old bushes and planted several new plants and used some fresh mulch in part of the flower bed. I used the colorant to color the old mulch to match the new. So It all looks pretty uniform now.Next time I will use laytex (or some other water proof) gloves that I use for painting to keep the colorant off my hands. (But it did wash off my hands pretty well). I got it on myself as I tried to clear the clogged sprayer nozzle. The colorant is fairly thick and clogs the sprayer nozzle. I am going to need to find a different sprayer approach for that. But I still like this product and will continue to use it. I do wish it was less expensive. Also, as I used it, I found my self wishing the seller made it in green because I would like to spray some parts of my grass!I do recommend this product.

I do like this product but…. It is very messy and blocks the sprayer up eventuallyIt does dye the mulch and nice rich brown and last over years

Looks good but...not sure if this makes sense

Mixed and sprayed about 10 gallons of this stuff. Bought the undied mulch this year which lost color after 2-3 months. Dye covered well with one coat (mixed it on the heavy side) but was a whole lot of work. I have a lot of beds and some tight areas around plants and rocks. I was happy with the way it turned out, brown color is good. This would make more sense if you have small areas to do. Otherwise I plan to just spend more and put down died mulch in the future.

I found it absolutely necessary to use a paint strainer when adding the material to the sprayer.

I used a 1.5-Gal tank sprayer with a fan tip. I learned early on it was necessary to strain the thinned material through a paint strainer when filling the sprayer. The thinned material sprays well and coverage is amazing. I am using it on last year's mulch which had faded. The resulting color is equivalent to new dark brown mulch. This material allows me to use material I grind with my shrewder to supplement my existing mulch and have the colors match.

It really works!

So I didn't even know this product existed, but when my wife decided to redo our rose garden and change the old red mulch to new brown mulch I realized that we could use this to literally recolor our existing mulch. We did that and then topped it with new brown mulch and the transformation is amazing! Highly recommended or as a friend recently said, a real game-changer.Of course, it will only recolor the side you spray so if you or your pets are going to walk on the area, you'll want to do several applications and rake or stir your mulch between to coat both sides. We actually changed the color of the mulch, but I'd think it would work even better if you simply want to breath new life into your existing color.
