A good product
I bought this Saike 852D Hot air gun & digital solering iron last month. I am impressed for its features and the low price. You may need to pay double to have a good digital soldering iron only. I have tried to use the soldering iron. It works very well. The digital temperature setting is very convenient and accurate. The iron heats up quickly, stable and follows the setting temprature. The hot air gun should be a good tool if I need to remove any surface mount chips. The hot air is strong enough to do the job.

Not entirely safe, and somewhat self-destructive
This thing is a lot cheaper on the inside, there's barely anything to it. When I got it, I noticed a rattling on the inside and I discovered that the main transformer was never properly secured. I had to fix that and I figured it was no big deal. I ran a few tests to make sure it could hit it's temperature marks (allegedly up to 500'C) and it seemed to do so. Then the time came for my first real job, and I set to work using the hot-air gun at 500'C for about 20 minutes. There are plenty of warnings on the product that warn about heat output (in EXTREMELY broken english) but not one that warns about the product melting itself. 20 minutes into this job, the hand guard on the hot air gun started to melt onto the gun, producing a lot of black smoke. I was able to let it cool, scrape off the melted plastic and continue, but I noticed the plastic of the hand guard just can't hold up to that kind of heat for very long. I was able to get my job done, and the hot air gun does still technically work, but I'm far from impressed. Later on, i used the soldering iron portion which is an oddly constructed multi-part sheath design that is held together by a nut at the base of the soldering iron. After one use, again around the 20 minute mark, the iron stopped producing heat. It's just dead now, i'm not even sure what broke...I was almost able to finish one project. Apparently you can buy replacement irons, but after that I don't see why I would.I would only suggest this product to someone if A: it's REALLY really really on sale and you don't care if it lasts, or B: you only want the hot air gun, and don't mind that you can't use it at the high-temp for very long.I would also point out that I'm no expert on temperatures, but I have a hard time believing that either device on this actually produced 500'C, maybe 500'F, but the heat just didn't seem very strong, which led me to push the device to its limits.

This is pretty good
Originally I wrote a very negative review - sorry -Some parts were loose in the box because the very thin plastic bag had ripped. The air temperature control is loose. The directions were confusing.Originally I thought the unit to be defective, but the problem was actually due to my not understanding of the operation. The hot air gun needs to be out of the holder to operate. It is sensitive to position. I commend the engineers for their effort, but it would be more convenient if the hot air function just reduced output while in the cradle -A good feature is the fan is in the handle, which make the cord more manageable. BUT at the lowest air flow setting any component smaller than 1210 is blown off the board. Good feature; the temperature displays are large and easy to read, BUT the display is set temp, not actual temp. I recommend that for a couple bucks more get the X-Tronic rework station. I have been using the X-tronic for over a year, with only one problem, I dropped the iron. This seems to be better quality and I know from personal experience that they have a excellent customer service department in the USA helped me even though the broken iron was my fault. Also that unit came with spare heater for solder iron and heat gun as well as a selection of tips..

You get what you pay for
Very poor quality. The plastic on the soldering iron broke on day one. I end up using my $20 heat gun and $30 soldering iron more than this unit. Spend the money and buy a name brand.

heat gun worked great, couldn't get the soldering iron to turn on
Purchased two of these - first one arrived with a piece broken off - tried to do an exchange but the item was out of stock, then once it came back in stock there was a price increase, amazon refunded the difference in prices to me though.Second one, I set it up, heat gun worked great, couldn't get the soldering iron to turn on, was making sure everything was hooked up correctly on the irons end, everything seemed fine, after a bit I opened up the main unit, and the power switch for the iron wasn't plugged in. After plugging it in, the iron heated up great, did some light soldering last night, blew my cheap radio shack iron out of the water.Great iron if you can get one thats working properly, quality control leaves something to be desired.

Excellent product at a very reasonable price
Awesome, awesome device. There is such a huge difference between a soldering iron and a hot air gun, and I can say that I will never go back to soldering, except for the smallest of projects. The workstation is solidly built and easy to use. It comes with several different tips for the soldering iron and different diameter "nozzles" for the air gun.Overall, an excellent purchase and a super-useful tool. I recommend it without any reservations.

a week latter I used it for 15 min to solder using the Iron it seemed to work fine later I wanted to remove some surface mount p
I purchased mine from China, all of the 852d+ units are made in China the 852d+ is sold under many names Saike, x-tronic, Lukey, Hakko, Yihua, the common denominator is the hot Air wand with the fan in the handle. I tested the unit functionality when I first received it, it worked, a week latter I used it for 15 min to solder using the Iron it seemed to work fine later I wanted to remove some surface mount parts turned on the hot air wand the fan turned on but no hot air. Mine came with a one year warranty but vendor said it would be 6 months to replace,,, needless to say the internal components that control the heaters (in Iron and wand) are junk! I fixed mine but don't trust it. I purchased the Aoyue 738H thru Amazon, it uses a diaphragm pump and it a super value for the price. It comes with a bunch of accessories and uses a totally digital interface.

Very nice SMD rework station for circuit boards.
This device works very well, and with the adjustable heat for hot air and/or soldering iron, as well as the many tips for both, it is a solid little unit with fine tuning for heat, in order to work on anything. I have done lots with it and I love it.

Fan not working
The heat part of this item works but the fan does not, soldering iron is great but hot air gun is now totally useless.
