Don't count on JetBeam's warranty coverage.
The JetBeam flashlights are great while they work. One of mine (a $60 unit) lasted about 18 months. Then it just died. Ok, things fail. With a 2 year warranty I expected that It would be fixed or replaced.I contacted the JetBeam Store for instructions and sent it in to them as instructed. Their solution is for them to send the device back to the factory (which they claimed was doing me a favor). 4 months and half a dozen emails later and all I have is an offer to allow me to purchase a replacement flashlight from them. I even contacted the factory rep who said they would look into it and then crickets. i.e. no further response.JetBeam's website claims that their distributors are equipped to repair their products in-house but that is clearly not the case with the JetBeam Store, their US distributor.

Great value, I have ordered 3 so far
Great product. Not that I've owned these for over a year, I can't say enough good things about this product. Durable, efficient and always bright. I'm a light junkie and own many much more expensive lights, none in this EDC class I like better.

Terrible
Horrible...sent it back. Not bright at allEdited 7-18-17 So, apparently if you leave a review that isn't "popular", you will get several "reviewers" upset. Last time I checked, none of the people that got upset were "verified purchasers". I assume if you buy this flashlight, you are supposed to know that if the specs say "AA", you can use a 14500 battery. This is supposed to be common knowledge, well, ITS NOT. Not ONE TIME in the description does it say "for best results, use a 14500 battery". Oh it does mention 14500, but I'm pretty sure not everyone knows what that means when not explained. So, rather than bashing, why not take the time to explain like one or two of the reviewers have done, WHICH I really appreciateMaybe you should stick to commenting on flowers, and not selling and leaving comments on the same product

Stopped working after first day of only few minutes use.
Very disappointed with this flashlight. Worked for about a day with a Lithium battery and very bright.Next day it went dim and tried a new battery. Still does not work. My 90 Lumen Olight is much Brighter now.

Superb build quality and compact size
I though I'd write this to counter the not-very-informative one-star review which someone else posted. The Jetbeam Jet-1 MK is beautifully built and well machined. Supplied in a plastic retail pack, a lanyard and spare o-ring is included. The anodizing is a very dark grey, not quite black. It is very compact - size is 84mm x 19mm. The light has 3 brightness levels using a standard AA cell, and you can get higher brightness if you use a 14500 Li-Ion cell, so it is designed to operate from a variety of AA-sized cells - 1.5v alkalines, 1.2v NiMH and even a 3.6v Li-Ion 14500. The back of the retail pack recommends the use of 1.2v NiMH.Claimed lumens with the 1.2/1.5v cells are 150 lumens (1.1 hr run time), 30 lumens (9 hrs) and 1.5 lumens (100 hrs). The brightness goes up by a factor of 2-3 if you use a Li-Ion cell - and with the 14500 cell, brightness is claimed to be 450 lumens for a 30 min run time. It does get quite warm when operated off a 14500 and I personally prefer using it with NiMH. Yes, it's not the brightest light in the world but the compact size and build quality mean it's an item which is well worth owning and in the same class (for example) as a Maglite. The emitter is a genuine Cree XP-G2 which is a small footprint high efficiency emitter. The beam color is on the cool-white side. The torch operates with a twist action and comes on when you screw down the head - you switch between modes by unscrewing and screwing the head. I personally don't like "twisties" but I had no problems operating this example. This particular listing is from the manufacturer (JetBeam) but shop around and you may be able to find it at a lower price (I paid $15).

Great regulation and run time efficiency for a single AA!
For a single AA light, this one is great. I've done a run time test and compared it to other name brand AA lights and its as efficient as the more expensive lights. It has very good efficient current regulated driver. I've heard reports about PWM when using a 14500 lithium ion battery but I haven't validated that. That wouldn't surprise me as its more complicated to have to do a driver that operates on voltage above and below the Vfwd of the LED (ie: from 0.9v up to 4.20v), thus it makes economic sense to have a good regulated boost circuit for the AA voltages and then use PWM for the higher lithium ion voltages. Nitecore does this with their MT10A. I have other lights that I prefer a 14500 for, but this light does very well with the AA battery. This is my go to light when I want to gift someone a decent light without spending too much money. I also love the mode spacing between low-med-high.

Gotta use the 14500
Use a good 14500 Lithium Ion cell with this and you have a pocket rocket. I have 2 good 14500 cells that I alternate as needed so one is always fully charged and ready to go. I carry this daily and have used it for every thing from repair work to finding my way in the bedroom with the wife asleep (really low setting!). I can operate it with one hand now that I have figured it out and usually keep it on the medium setting as this is adequate for most things. It is a beast on high and never fails to impress me with how much light it throws out. I have many more expensive and larger lights but for every day carry (EDC) this one will be hard to beat. The fact that you can use any AA battery is a plus for power outages and emergencies but you don't get anywhere enough light IMO unless you use the Li Ion 14500. Paid about 13 for it.
