Liked my "Cheap" Plastic Tower fan
I was looking for a Tower fan that is safer for 2 yrs old kid and that can blow the air. My primary concern was more about the amount of air Tower fan can deliver rather than the noise.I have tried few other fan of different brands- Lasko Xtra air 48", kenmore 36" model 34036, honeywell 8 speed HY108 and the SPT. Certainly this one servers my purpose best.About SPT Tower fan- I must say this fan tops in the rating when it comes to amount of air fan can deliver under $100. It has 3 speeds. The high speed deliver enough air that you can feel it easily from 15/18 feet range. Fairly powerful tower fan that moves 1,300 cubic feet per minute. It has good oscillation degree. The air flow it delivers is not concentrated to one space. I have seen other fan (Kenmore, Lasko)- they have very narrow opening in the front that may throw the air a bit further, but certainly does not feel the breeze. It has a wide opening and you will feel the breeze from a distance. LCD panel (blue color light) displays shows the settings clearly. The blue color light becomes helpful at night. Another plus side of this fan is it has ionizer option.Few things of this fan may make others to give a second thought. It's a little bit in the noisy side. Its made with Cheap hard plastic material. The base does not hold the tower straight- sometimes its wither leaning forward or backward. I'm not positive about how many months (if not days) I can use this fan, just because of built quality. And also, I'm not so sure about the customer support. One interesting thing found by my 2years old. This fan can be operated with my one of TV remote, my air purifier remote. He was playing with those remote and I noticed this fan was going on/off. Good or bad, now I don't have to worry about the fan remote- can use one remote for two purposes. It may not be the most attractive, or have good support, it's still a pretty good fan with the air throughput level, I'm going to keep this fan just because it really blows the air. Rather spending money after expensive fans, I would rather buy two of them to serve my purpose more.

this fan BLOWS! ;)
here's a few backgrounds on where i am - i'm in a room that is in constant sunlight all day long - on long island in NY. i work from home, to boot, so i've usually got the TV and laptop on. needless to say, i'm in the room alot and thee is a lot of "heat" sources on in the room most of the time.i am not someone that likes the frigid dryness of an AC, so when i start noticing the heat (usually at about 80 degrees) i kick on the AC for about 10 minutes and then I shut it off again until it starts getting hot. Usually about once every hour or so, I do this. With this fan, I haven't kicked the AC on once. The room drops about 2 degrees with the fan constantly circulating air (i've got a temperature gauge in my room) and its low wattage (35 on low, 39/40 on medium, and 46 on high and on HIGH it reaaaally moves some crazy air) beats my AC any day (500 watts on low). I can literally run this fan for 12 hours and it's still far less wattage than my AC at one hour. The oscillation feature is awesome, you don't hear it moving at all the way some tower fans and oscillating fans can be heard. Whether this will degrade over time, I am not sure - it most likely will as all things degrade - but for now it's working perfect. The ionizer feature is really only going to improve 2 things - the gathering of dust in a room and the "freshness" of the air. If you don't notice the ionizer doing anything, then congrats, you already have a fresh smelling room that isn't that dusty. I notice that it does work though bc i've got a large amount of cardboard boxes in this room (i sell and ship items for a living) and cardboard sure can stink. Well this ionizer kicks that odor out and circulates a cool fresh breeze. The timer mode works like a charm and the "sleep" mode, is kinda neat, but kinda weird as i wouldn't recommend it for sleeping. it works erratically between low, medium, high, off and provides more of a natural breeze than anything that i'd recommend sleeping on. the constant variation of noise of the fans (which are pretty quiet, but at night they will seem louder bc everything is quieter) will most likely keep you up if you use it in the bedroom. For a natural breeze though, it's a good choice setting. The fan is also very powerful, on low you can feel a breeze from about 10 feet away. On medium, about 15 feet away, and on high about 20 to 25 feet away. it's pretty awesome :) the remote feature is great too although at times, when its oscillating, it can be hard to get it at the "right" time and line it up. for the most part, that's going to be a problem with an oscillating remote controlled fan.overall, its a superb fan and i really recommend buying it.
