Best KN95 Mask? Boncare, Hebileon, Yuikio, Synglo or WWDoll?
As you may know, KN95 respirators are the Chinese version of N95. How do you know if you are getting a legit one? I’ll detail that below. We’ve tried the Amazon best sellers and they are not all the same. Since I began reviewing KN95s in 2020, prices went up fast after Covid’s second wave hit us here in the U.S. At the time of this review, Boncare is our favorite and we have ordered three times. Read on for a detailed evaluations:BONCARE:These are currently .72 each in a quantity of 50. They do meet the Goldilocks criteria. I’d describe as ever so slightly tight upon first impression but then comfortable. The nose is a little pointy—many like that for comfort, including eyeglass wearers avoiding a foggy face! These are the best of us.HEBILEON:Hebileon is on par with most others. At .70 a mask at the time of this review, If you have a smaller face, you will probably like these. The built quality impresses yet the first one I tried on broke a strap immediately. I’m a guy with a regular sized face. Although may colleagues may disagree, I do not have a big head!YUIKIO:At .65 a mask at the time of this review, Yuikio is on par with most others. If you have a smaller face, you will probably like these. They are thinner than some yet I did pull one apart and there are indeed five layers, as there should be with any KN95. stretched the bands a bit and the tightness. Is a bit improved. Our family also likes that each mask comes individually wrapped.WWDOLL:I thought I had found a winner in WWDOLL at .89 each despite the fact these smell like gas when first putting them on. I reluctantly “tried” to overlook that because the fit was comfy. However, when I started wearing I noticed they were uncomfortably hot. I took a closer look at the mask. The white inner layers are thick and puffy. Imagine a flannel shirt for your face on a warm spring day. Back they went, too.SYNGLO:After trying all the other brands below, at a cost of .95 each the price has gone up dramatically yet they remain a favorite mask. They are the most breathable of any yet encountered. At first I found the earbands too tight for me. Stretching helped and I no longer perceived a problem.HOW DO YOU ARE GETTING TRUE 95% PROTECTION?The CDC has information on which have be NIOSH approved, and which have been rejected for not meeting a 95% filtration threshold. Most brands do not bother to test since but I do find all but one of the brands above worthy yet I worry about the WWDOLL’s odd puffy layers.Of note, no NIOSH certified mask has an ear loop design like these and most other available KN95 masks. The NIOSH certified designs have head bands It’s likely that most brands do not seek out NIOSH certification. That does not mean it is not a good mask, though.Note that some N95 masks have the NIOSH markings right on the mask but none in this style does. In fact, no mask with this type of ear loop qualifies for this marking. This earloop style is also far more practical than the NIOSH headband approved style.CONCLUSION:Hope this too long review has been of some help for you and that all of us will soon be wearing masks FAR less often. From our family to yours, we believe that better times will again return!

Reliable
With all of the information out there about the best mask to use, I found that these fit the criteria. They do not feel as if they’re suffocating you nor do they make behind the ear uncomfortable like some others.Only thing I dislike is they’re not good with make up, BUT what’s a little touch up versus germs?

Well fitting mask for daily use, good seal around edges, nose strip very effective for fit.
These are great masks for daily wear. The material isn't aggravating my skin, the seal around the edges is good, the nose strip helps fit the mask well and prevents my glasses from steaming up. The over the ear loops are not irritating or rubbing even with extended use. I feel confident wearing these out and about to prevent illness. I like they pack flat in my bag but hold shape when unfolded and fitted on my face.

A good mask, but does not fit all faces.
If you have a small face, this mask might not be for you. It is ideal for a wider face. Someone with a small or heart shaped face might find it slides up into their eyes. The mask is pretty breathable for being 5 layers. Would definitely recommend.

Works well

Thick
These are thick, which make me feel safe. The ear loops stretch and fit just fine. I don’t feel suffocated because the actual cup is big enough not to moosh my nose.

Not a great mask
I work in a public health facility as a direct care provider. We're only being given surgical masks at the moment, so I decided to pick up a box of KN95 masks for additional safety. Handling personal protective equipment is a major part of my job, and based on that experience I have four concerns about this product.1. The masks don't come individually packaged. The box I received had the masks separated into two large bags. These bags were not resealable, so once they'd been opened then half of the box runs the risk of being exposed to contaminants in the air or damage from ambient moisture. I've never encountered KN95 masks packaged in this manner.2. The masks have a moderate chemical odor. In general, personal protective equipment should not have a scent associated with it since it should be made of neural and sterile materials. I suspect the black dye used on the outer layer of the mask is the source of the smell. Dyes exhaust all sorts of gaseous chemicals over time, and not all of them are safe to be inhaling for hours on end. That's not a deal breaker for everyone, but people should be aware before purchasing.3. These masks are smaller than other KN95 masks labeled as "large." The image used by the seller is not an accurate depiction of the product when worn by an adult. They're probably fine for most women and older children, but some men might want to look into ordering a different product. The seal on the mask wouldn't stay intact when I talked. That means it's too small.4. They're very lightweight compared to other KN95 masks. I'm not going to rip one up to check, but I suspect corners were cut in their manufacture to get the weight down. I understand this is a selling point for the product, but getting the weight so low means something is missing. That might mean the masks don't actually contain the five layers they claim to or that those layers aren't made from the same effective material found in general purpose KN95 masks.Overall I think these masks are reasonably fine for a trip to the store or the office, but if you know you're going to be in contact with infected individuals then there are better products out there offered at comparable prices.
