Works Good For Me and No Side Effects!
I did not experience the problems that a lot of people have claimed, but then I've been taking a large amount of prebiotics and changed my diet over the last four months. Scared by some of the reviews, I tried only a half scoop my first time, but after no side effects, the next evening I took a whole scoop before bed. Still no side effects, so I took a whole scoop the next morning wanting to switch to mornings. Here it is six hours later and still none of the horrible gas or needing to go to the bathroom that some say they experienced. What I did experience is that good feeling I used to have in my stomach that I have not felt for the last eight months since my stomach issues began. It's been a long road. I'm not saying this is the only product that helped get rid of my IBS symptoms, but it definitely helped. If you suffer from IBS related symptoms and gastritis as I did (even went to the ER twice, which I'm still paying for!) here is what I did to cure myself. 1) Stop taking PPIs. They are good for short-term relief but will only prolong your symptoms and make things worse in the long run. This is the only thing the doctor told me to do, which is to take a PPI. I was on it for four months with temporary relief, but the pain and sometimes overwhelming nausea always seemed to return with a vengeance. 2) Heal your gut - After months of research, and reading medical journals and articles, while on the PPI, the science proves it's your gut that is the problem. More specifically your gut bacteria. If your doctor says there is no scientific evidence to support gut flora being the cause of your IBS, get a doctor that keeps up with science in medicine. There is a ton of research out there thanks to the human microbiome project. Once I learned this and did research on which probiotics were the best to rebuild the protective layer of the gut, I bought these. (Perfect Pass Probiotic Bacillus Spore Human Strain) (Swanson L. Reuteri Probiotic Plus with L. Rhamnosus L. Acidophilus & FOS Prebiotic Digestive Support) And, of course, this wonderful product which now I wish I had found first, (Hyperbiotics Organic Prebiotic Powder) Also, you need to change your diet. Stop smoking, no alcohol, sweets, or bad carbs. The absolute best thing is to try to switch to a vegetarian diet mostly, but if you are like I was, even a heavy salad made your stomach extremely uncomfortable (almost had to leave work twice). So for about two months straight I ate jasmine rice, roasted chicken and gravy, and tried to get in a little veggie. My family is sick of chicken and rice! Now that I'm back to normal I'm switching to a heavy veggie diet. I NEVER want to go through that again!!!!!!! Gotta keep those little buggers in my gut flourishing and happy. So the chronology of my journey is this: First two months, two ER visits, and a bunch of tests that all came back negative. Sound familiar? Oh yeah, I was also put on three courses of antibiotics. Why was I on them? No idea! The test for H. Pylori came back negative! Next four months on PPI and doing my own research, because I got fed up with the doctor not being able to tell me why I had gastritis and not caring what the cause was, also started to change my diet after reading Fast Tract Digestion. Next two months on probiotics and prebiotics. It actually took less time to heal my gut than the doctor had me on the PPI. I know some may say I may have been on the mend already, but all I can say to that is it sure as heck didn't feel like it. I plan on making this prebiotic powder part of my daily routine for the foreseeable future.

Found it helpful
Since I started to use it, I have very regular bowel movement. I really like it. The taste is light and easy, so I will keep using it. My boyfriend had some infection issues and the doctor in the hospital encouraged him to use prebiotics and probiotics to help him fight with it.

I recommend starting small (1/2 dose)
Okay... I've read the reviews, and I've got to say... For those of you who complain about gas, well... welcome to taking fiber for the first time. ALL fiber does this. I don't think this particular supplement is more than other fiber in that regard. It *will* subside if you've been taking it a while. Fiber is a bit tricky to supplement. Too little, and you don't see any improvement. Too much, and you end up a bloated mess running to the bathroom every 5 minutes. I recommend starting small (1/2 dose), and building up gradually (maybe 1/2 dose per day increase once weekly), but no more than 1 dose with a meal each day. It works best mixed with protein shakes in the morning. If you add to water only, expect an unpleasant experience. Also, don't take fiber on an empty stomach. It always works best when taken with food. Honestly, this is the best fiber I've come across. Soluble fiber is the preferred type of fiber to use, as it is gentle on the gut and helps lower cholesterol, etc. Insoluable fiber is good for pushing things through, but if you're an IBS or IBD patient, it should be strongly avoided. I will say this tends to be a bit more clumpy than some other soluable fiber supplements I've tried, but it comes from 3 different plants, versus Hydrolyzed Guar Gum (something like NutriSource Fiber Supplement Powder), which won't help your gut flora at all. Having a rich variety of fiber is important to gut health, as each of the flora want something a little different, so I'm willing to pay more to get a variety in one jar as opposed to going out and finding a lot of different fiber source supplements. There isn't a strong flavor here, but it does have a slight flavor of banana, which I really only noticed when I tried seeing what the raw taste of the fiber was. I found it pleasant, but not strong enough to notice once mixed. My suggestion for mixing this is to add your water to a blender FIRST, turn the blender on the lowest setting with lid on, then take the lid off with it running as long as you're reasonably confident the water isn't going to escape the blender... then add your fiber, then protein. Once mixed, you can turn off the blender, add any ice or fruit or anything else you want, then put the lid back on and turn the machine back on. Adding the powder at the bottom before the water just leads to a clumpy mess at the bottom of your containers that's difficult to clean. I use this supplement with protein shakes and soups in my vitamix daily, and I've noticed my gut seems a bit happier than with the other fiber supplements I've tried. Don't expect miracles from any fiber, but if you're going to take a fiber supplement, I strongly suggest this one be your go-to.
