Alas, I Continue My Harem Search
Alright so I'm a harem guy, yeah yeah, look at me like that all you want, but I find the concept of a harem that works to be fascinating. So I am constantly on the search for the perfect one, the golden goose as it were. I've yet to find it.Ninja Girls was one such candidate, but sadly our main male protagonist here, Raizou, is a bit of a wimp. He has all these hot female (and male) characters fawning over him, trying to get him to hooked up with a number of princesses to kick the baby making into high speed and save his clan, but he runs away every time! Yeah sure he's a bit younger, but that's no excuse! When I was his age I would have loved this kind of attention! Would I have been unsure of what was being asked of me? Sure, but I certainly wouldn't scurry away like he does.So while the manga has an alright story and some pretty hot characters, it just fails as a harem.

Fun manga
Easily fills a few minutes of light reading, story line is good enough to gather your attention, not sure if this will hold thru the whole series, but I have obtained the next book.

This manga is not quite for beginners in manga fandom
Ever since he was born, Raizo has had a horn growing from his head. Wait-a horn?! You're joking, right? Nope, that horn is proof of a closely guarded secret: Raizo is the offspring of the late Lord Katana, illegitimate or not, and heir to the Katana Clan, which has, unfortunately, been decimated by the treacherous and cruel Lord Kabuki Seigan.Growing up, Raizo was ostracized by everyone in his home village, who treated him like garbage, a monster. He was certain he would never be able to meet a nice girl who would love him for who he was and not what he looked like. Everything changes, however, when he finds a lovely young girl passed out in a nearby river. He nurses her back to health, but before he can see her on her way, his life is threatened by warriors sent by Seigan with orders to kill the boy with the horn on his head. Lo and behold, the girl, named Kagari, is a kunoichi, a female ninja assigned to protect him by his late family, one of four, actually. Kagari's abilities are...unusual. Her Iga-Ninpo Shintaigo requires the man she loves to watch her closely in the midst of battle. This alone exposes Raizo to countless dangers, not to mention some suggestive and awkward situations, which only add to the entertainment quality of this series. As Raizo prepares to journey throughout Sengoku Era Japan to seek a way to restore his nobility, he comes across two more who call themselves his "underlings," the level-headed markswoman with the "Rasengan" Wizard Eye (no confusing it, Naruto fans), Kisarabi, and the work-avoiding homosexual, Himemaru, whose name is ironic, yet suitable-"hime" means "princess" and "-maru" is part of a boy's name. But even with these three warriors at his side, he cannot take his eyes off them for a second, because Lord Seigan is hot on his trail, and has taken a personal, twisted interest in Kagari, and her power of Shintaigo, or Conjuction of God and Body. This series is characterized by the traces of fanservice and projected (partial) nudity that accompanies the feelings of Raizo's kunoichi "servants." Some might think there's too much, while others may think there's too little. I think there's just the right amount to allow for slightly older teens to read it, and it would still be appropriate. This manga is great, but it's not quite for beginners in manga fandom, who would be advised to read Naruto, a very popular ninja series before picking this one up.Reviewed by David Gromer

One guy, three hot girls....how can readers lose?
Children of past ruling familes lead interesting lives. Raizo, according to legend, is the illegitimate son of the once mighty Katana family. How do readers know that? He has a horn growing out of his head of course! Why'd we ask?Once he comes out as the last illegitimate child, then out of the woodwork comes his detractors. Young Raizo is chased as on a witch hunt, then raised to prominence by three female ninja who seek only to protect and serve. As a shy young man, his rapid entry into the world of female companionship causes his life to turn around. The love struck Kagari protects while trying to seduce, and utters the dialogue on page 24 while wrapping a towel around her naked body: "Have you heard about a boy with a horn growing from head?" This is a 16 + book, and the sexual overtones are very strong. His enemies, Kabuki Seigan, attempt to end his life and end Katana rule forever.Let's see. Three female warriors, a clan devoted to murder, and lots of TNA. The reawakening of love. Destiny. Hmmmm. For the curious male readers out there, this book has it all. In terms of art, there is much that could have been improved, yet it is not all bad but rather a case of a handful of examples of blown storytelling. This series does have potential. Let's hope it improves.Tim Lasiuta

Gettin' 'Horny'
Created by Hosana Tanaka, Ninja Girls is your typical manga story about a boy and his bevy of overdeveloped young girls. Raizo is an orphan ostracized for the horn growing out of his forehead. But his luck changes when he not only learns that's he's the heir to a fallen kingdom, but he's also being protected by a band of beautiful kunoichi (female ninja) devoted to restoring his family name. So Raizo is helplessly straddled into the first of many wacky adventures in his quest for greatness. And that sums up this and pretty much every manga/anime sharing the same theme (Tenchi Muyo!, Negima, etc.). But the feudal/ninja vibe combined with Tanaka's dazzling art is a sight to see at least once. Besides a brief lesson on Japanese honorifics, bonus 4-panel manga and translation notes are included. This comic is rated OT for ages 16+: Violence, Adult Situations.
