SodaStream Source Soda Maker (Metal) in Black with Exclusive Kit w/ 4 Bottles & Starter CO2

I bought this as a present. Unfortunately mine was defective. The LED lights that are supposed to show the level of carbonation did not work. Otherwise I liked the SodaStream but since it was a present and one would like to have a machine work as designed I had to send it back to Beach Camera. The return process was a hassle as it took about a week for Beach Camera to send me a prepaid return authorization. I just mailed it back today so hopefully it goes smooth and nothing else happens.The failure of the LED lights seems to be all to common when reading the reviews. I think SodaStream needs to address this problem especially since it did not work right out of the box. I used up the sample C02 cartridge fairly quickly without one blink from the LED lights.

I love this carbonator! Its so easy to use. I would highly recommend.

It seems to work fine I'm only lightly carbonating water at the moment because I got some sort of stomach bug and I have nothing in the house except for the energy liquid that has some potassium and vitamins in it to add some minerals and vitamins back into my system (can't make it to the store for pedialyte without vomiting.The reason for the reduction in stars is the bottles it comes with are 2 1 liter and 2 0.5 litres. I was happy about this because "Good I can make less and save CO2 when I don't want a whole liter!". That was until I read the machines manual which states to ONLY use the plastic 1 litre bottles and NOT 0.5 litre (or glass for that matter). - That makes them kind of useless if I only want to make 0.5 - I'd have to use a 1 liter bottle and fill up both 0.5 liter bottles - losing carbonation in the process or transferring. Now that I know that I would have just preferred 4 1 liter bottles, as I wasn't expecting 0.5 bottles anyway.Mind you this is a review on the whole package and not just the machine and the bottles do count if they aren't usable (color of the details don't really matter as that doesn't at all reflect the use of the package but the size does matter a lot. - That's what she said.)I don't know if this is Sodastreams oversight or a seller oversight from repackaging everything for the special deal with extra bottles. I will try and contact the seller Beach Camera Same Day Shipping to see if this can be fixed but not until I am feeling better. - I will at least give them a chance but as of right know I couldn't get to the post office within the next couple days anyhow.Also just a side not be sure to have some flavored syurp on hand or purchase some as it didn't come with any - no big deal as it wasn't advertised as coming with any anyway. And the rebate form for the starter cartridge was in the package for mine.

We're on our third machine now and it still doesn't work. The charge blow-off valve blows before it can get to the second charge level. Every time I've called Sodastream they've sent a new one, but I just don't think this machine was designed to seal properly and charge fully.What's worse is that when I posted the exact above feedback to Sodastream for a review on their website they said "did not meet guidelines." Guess their "guidelines" are to delete real reviews...

I mulled over this purchase for years. YEARS, I tell you. I am so glad I bit the bullet. It makes great seltzer that stays carbonated for days, is cheaper than bottles and cans. Plus I don't have to lug heavy soda water up to my apartment. Love it.
