It's the Hurricane mix you see everywhere, and authentic Pat O' Brien's
I do find that most people not from New Orleans aren't really fan of real Hurricane.1) Those who have only had it elsewhere, have no idea what it should taste like and buy this expecting it to taste like something else. Speaking as a New Orleanian, I've never had Hurricane anywhere else (and I've lived all over the US) that tasted or looked remotely like a Hurricane. So if you had some at a random restuarant and expect this to taste like it, this aint it.2) Those who have had it in the French Quarter on one trip and expect to remake what they had, this is likely not going to be entirely what you thought either. There you have the atmosphere, your drinks is watered down already or even if made well nearly immediately by melting ice in the New Orleans heat. It's like buying great wine at a winery and when you get home it's not quite the same.3) But if you actually like Hurricanes, this makes some seriously tasty and super strong drinks! The best way to drink this, from my dear deceased friend that taught it to me one warm day on Veteran's Blvd, is to get a gallon water jug, empty a quarter out, pour a whole packet in, fill the rest with rum, shake. And you've got yourself a gallon of heaven.

Love this mix
We have ordered this multiple times. We LOVE it. It is the only Hurricane Mix that comes close to what we loved in New Orleans (although as another poster wrote, you cannot replicate ambiance). We have modified the mix a bit to make it even better for us. The package directions make a very strong and very sweet drink which is great but can be too much for us when we want to sit and drink them all day.Our recommendation is: In a large drink bottle, (which seals completely and is transparent to see if the powder is dissolved), mix dark rum and the entire contents of the package. Shake well. Fill bottle completely with dark rum. Let sit a few hours, shaking occasionally. (overnight is best). In a large pitcher, mix 2 cups of the mixture (well shaken), 1 cup additional Rum (we use light rum but use what your taste buds prefers), 4-5 Cups refrigerated fruit punch (sold by orange juice, any brand, try a few brands, we prefer a private label from a local store), 3 Cups orange juice. Mix well and pour into a full glass of crushed (or solid cube) ice. Each packet usually makes 2 pictures of punch for us. Garnish with orange slices!!

I love this product
I love this product. I drink this without making it a cocktail. I make this powder drink mix like someone would make Kool-Aid This 9oz powder makes 64oz of drink and I can still add a little water to my glass when I make a drink. Making this as 32oz was way to sweet if drinking it by itself. I have had a hurricane before and loved the mix cocktail version. Due to medications and such I very rarely have cocktails any more but still desire that taste. I have found a middle ground. I say if you want more than a quart play around and find what works for you.

Just like the real deal!
If you're having a Mardi Gras party, don't leave out the hurricanes! This mix did a great job of recreating the Hurricane I've enjoyed many times in New Orleans. A perfect addition to your Mardi Gras party!

Make your own Hurricanes with Franco's Hurricane Mix
Excellent product. Goes a long way and one package provides enough mix to make many Hurricanes.

Pat O'Brien's Hurricane Mix
The mix was enough to make about 10, 20 oz hurricanes. The instructions were good and the drink turned out very tasty and was almost as easy to make as buying a hurricane at Pat O'Briens. The only thing I did differently when I made them a second time was to add more water to the mix so it was less concentrated, but you can easily adjust the strength for your own tastebuds. Enjoy!
