Works as good as a gas power without the noise and constant problems of internal combustion. Battery life is plenty. Very powerful. You could probably edge with this. I wouldn't know though because I bought the edger attachment.

First of all I have been using gas trimmers for a long time. I’ve also spent plenty of money fixing and maintaining them. Just wish something like this would have been in the picture sooner. My last gas trimmer was leaking fuel all over my driveway and gave me the worst time starting. So this purchase was prompted by my frustration! Now for the great part once assembled ( the instructions leave a lot to be desired) and charged up this trimmer worked great on a test area. Finally yesterday I ran it all around my house. At first in low gear and it made trimming my grass as simple and easy as my gas trimmer. Then I added some of my old attachments (edger, hedge clippers) on high gear and it did the job better than my old gas trimmer. Yes, you can use other attachments on this model which was what I wanted to do. Never expecting my older craftsman attachments to work. This item was highly rated and I can see why it is strong and capable. Looks very sturdy and has a solid feel. The battery is a bit heavy and may take some time to get used to but no heavier than a gas trimmer. The battery life was exceptional also, ran it for a solid two hours with minimal battery burn. I am so glad that I made purchase and went green! Don’t think twice spend your money once on a solid item once.

So far so good. The unit has plenty of power. I've been cutting an area with 3 ft tall grass and the only issue has been grass getting tangled around the head. The line has been cutting through smaller plants 1/4" - 1/2" with a little effort. I also bought the dewalt 60v blower and am pleased with that also.

Battery does not last more than an hour or so under normal use. Disappointing. Trimmer was easy to assemble. Trim twine is very durable. But I will need to purchase a spare battery to get the whole yard trimmed in one setting.

Used it one time and does a great job has two speeds and I never had to use the high speed at any point. Very easy to assemble. Charge battery and ready to go.It is a commercial grade. So far so good.

I was very disappointed with this DEWALT string trimmer. The product was delivered without the battery and charger that were supposed to be included. In addition, some of the parts required to complete the assembly were missing from the box. Because of the missing components, I was unable to assemble and use the trimmer right away. This created unnecessary inconvenience and delayed my work. I expected better quality control and packaging from DEWALT. I hope the seller resolves this issue quickly, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product in its current condition.

I have needed a good string trimmer for a long time. It's just one of those things I hate to spend money on since I don't use it all that often. Before purchasing the Dewalt string trimmer, I had a corded Craftsman string trimer that was a real pain to use. When I got the Craftsman, we lived on 1/4 acre lot and didn't have much to trim, but now we are on 2.2 acres and I have a lot more to trim. I had been going back and forth between a gas powered and a cordless trimmer. When I saw ProjectFarm's test of higher end cordless string trimmers, I was sold on the Dewalt. It's more money than I wanted to spend on a String Trimmer, but the ability to use additional attachments sold me and not have to deal gas and smelly exhaust is a bug bonus. Assembly was simple. It only took a couple minutes to attach the handle and the guard. The trimmer is heavy with the battery attached, but it is very well balanced. Using the Dewalt is a pleasure. I dreaded using my Craftsman. The string would constantly break when it came into contact with anything thicker than a blade of grass. Getting the string pulled out was a real pain. The Dewalt has yet to break a string and I have hit all kinds of stuff with it: siding, corner of the concrete foundation, copper grounding rod, saplings and other thick weeds. Pulling more string is effortless. The string usually advances with one tap, but sometimes it does require a second tap. Most of the time, I use the string trimmer on low. When I encounter thicker weeds or saplings, I usually switch to high. I've used the trimmer a good bit and the battery charge indicator just recently stopped showing fully charged since my initial charge. The battery only showed one light when I first got the string trimmer and it charged pretty quickly considering its size. I was afraid I might need a second battery (have you priced those suckers?), but fortunately, the one battery will be just fine. Plus, I can use it on my 20V Max Dewalt cordless tools, a very nice bonus. I would highly recommend this trimmer.

Great product! I want to complain about the instructions. First of all, it comes in three little books, and it's very hard to read because the type is very small and the type is gray instead of black, which makes it even harder to read. They're very redundant. They say the same thing in each one about all the different products that DEWALT makes, when really I just need to know about my string trimmer. It's confusing because there are all these other product references in there. For instance it talks about a gas trimmer and I don't have a gas one. I got the battery one, so why is that in there? Another thing is that they put all the illustrations right on the first two pages, and then in the rest of the text, like four pages later, they refer back to that illustration. Why not put the illustration right there so you can see the text and refer to the illustration at the same time? That would be a lot easier, let me tell you. Luckily, it's very easy to assemble, and if you are already familiar with string trimmers, you will be good to go in no time. Other than that, very happy. It is a DEWALT, so I'm not surprised. It cuts just as well as my gas-powered that it replaces. The battery lasts just about as long as I do at 76, so that's perfect.

Good for lawn care! It’ blasts through battery fast though so your going to want to have a few of them.

I shopped around and was not disappointed with my choice. So much so that I then ordered a second battery. I jury-rigged a shoulder harness using a strong camera strap (NIKON) and was happy right away.

Cuts as good as any gas trimmer

So far no problems Trims long grass easily . The only drawback is it is a little heavy

I am sure this is a good product, cannot test it out until the spring because we have snow here
