Bullet proof reel
My reel was purchased as a second chance product;I’m assuming it was returned after mistakenly sent as wrong size reel. When I received my reel I was shocked to see it was basically disassembled.. the entire guts of the reel was loose in the box. After looking at schematics I reassembled and reel is smooth and reliable!!! I have had it out for several outings and have taken:Crappie, bass, steelhead, bluegills and carp. It’s 5/6 version and it’s smooth. Drag works great on large fish and smooth on retrieve. It’s a great reel and the lil brother to my 7/8 model I use for steelhead! I highly recommend these reels!

Great Fly Reel
I have owned multiple weight Okuma SLV fly reels for many years. I have yet to encounter a problem with any of them. They are well built, have a a good, easily adjusted drag and changing spools is fast and easy. One of the things I really like is the retrieve is silent, no click, click, click. Add to that the reels reasonably priced. You don't need an expensive reel for most trout fishing. Also, extra spools are available, cutting down on the cost of ownership.

Great value and solid construction.
This reel is priced very well considering the construction. I just wish that it was easier to find extra spools.

Spools from the SLV 5/6 will not fit onto the SLV 5/6b
I have owned a SLV 5/6 reel for many years and have three extra spools. My reel finally has wear tolerance and purchased the SLV 5/6b reel to replace it. Unfortunately, I did not realize that my existing spools would not work with this reel. Returned for a refund, which was not problem. Had to pay shipping, however, that was fine because it was my error.
