I like making crushed ice cocktails and I don’t have a fridge ice maker. I need to make my ice the old fashioned way. I’ve tried using normal ice cubes and crushing them in a Lewis bag with a mallet but that’s just a pain. Then I tried mini ice cubes but they’re too uniform and still too big for “crushed ice” cocktails. This is perfect. It makes long, thin sticks of ice that crumble very easily. Occasionally I’ll put it in the Lewis bag and whack it a couple times just for extra fine crushed ice, but it’s so much easier.

We recommend washing your trays after/before each use. Regular freezer cleaning and ensuring that all of your containers/packages are tightly sealed also help to prevent further odors from escaping and circulating within the freezer.We also recommend a few methods to help eliminate the odors on the trays:Bake: Bake the trays for 30-60mins. They are oven safe up to 350 degrees. If you do try to bake your tray, it is important to allow them to air dry for 24hrs before use.Soak: Use a water and vinegar soak for a few hours. After soaking, wash and allow for the trays to completely dry before use.Wash: Use a baking soda wash (baking soda and water), which may also help in eliminating the silicone odor.I hope this helps! This only holds 4 oz of water. 1/2 cup. That isn't much ice. But, that isn't the real problem. This must lay flat in a freezer and cannot be moved when filled because it is floppy. I set it on a plate and on something that looked level. The results? Water spilled and froze on the plate and the ice over-filled and was solid across the top. I couldn't break it into pieces.We bought this to make small pieces of ice for the dog and it did not give us the results we needed.

I don't write reviews very often, but had to come back and report because of all the negative reviews. This thing works fabulously. Fill it up, freeze it, when ready to retrieve ice:1. turn it upside down2. keep the cover on and twist.3. Allow the ice to fall onto the cover4.. Bend the cover in your hand to fill a cup with crushed ice. It is only enough to fill one cup, it's super easy and does what's described. I just ordered a second one for my boyfriend to enjoy.
