Cheap, But has Quality

Of course things like black lights are for us computer nerds who aren't necessarily interested in showing off a case but just to see how a black light will look inside one and to be perfectly honest its looks pretty sweet. I put in these black cathodes in a coolermaster HAF case along with a HIS Radeon 5770 which is UV reactive and its looks quite outstanding. Brightness is really not an issue with black lights lol, and far as construction goes seems pretty sturdy, however one thing I did was apply a small amount of super glue to each sticky pad because sometimes the "sticky" part is a little exaggerated. Overall really a toss up between 4.5 and 5 there are a few changes that would have been nice, but once again this is cheap and good quality.

Great lighting for any windowed case

I was pleasantly surprised when I turned these on, and they had a black-light effect to them. They are not very bright (like the description says), but do change the colors of a lot of the internal cables and parts that looks really cool when combined with the blue & green LED fans that I already had installed. It is a little hard to find 12 inches of clear space to install these, and had to line mine up vertically by the edge of the Motherboard. I highly recommend these lights to get that unique look for your custom build.

An OK Product

I have wanted this product since I saw it. I first ordered this about 6 months ago on another site. It arrived in perfect codition and I was actually surprised that it didn't work after I installed it. Didn't really have much time to do some troubleshooting so I just left it alone in my HAF 922 case. Then I saw this exact item here in Amazon and bought it again a few weeks ago only to my disdain. It was clearly broken. There was no sign of mishandling since there were no scratches and the box was in perfect condition when it arrived. But the flourescent light was clearly broken. Not the glass, mind you, but the filament inside the glass. It was shatered to the point that there is a few centimeter of gap on the broken filament inside. I was very disappointed. Being in the Middle East, RMA-ing products like this isn't really an option. But not the type to give up easily, I took the inverter (the blue box where you plug the wires) and replaced my old one. I also replaced the velcro pads with something I got from a picture frame. The velcro pads that comes with this item looses their stickiness after a few weeks of being inside a case that generates heat. So, when all was set, I turned the switch on and BAM, it worked. So technically, I paid $10 for the inverter alone since that is the only one that I was able to use.But for all intese purposes, the light does work. Since it is a "Black Light", I didn't expect it to brighten my CPU. It is not bright at all. And it shouldn't be. It is not a LED light. For this price range, I'd say it is decent enough. But given more available choices, I probably would choose a better one even if it costs more. Why did I purchase it then? Well, I got UV reactive SATA cables and PCI & RAM slot covers, and I ordered UV reactive green sleevings. Without these UV reactive materials, it would look like your CPU doesn't have lighting inside. But it does make these UV reactive items glow nicely. If you want to brighten your CPU w/ "Black Light", buy a purple colored LED lighting kit. Again, this item is not intended to brighten your CPU. Not even a little. It is for UV reactive materials inside your case that you want to glow.Pros: - Not cheap but not expensive either - Does its purposeCons: - Short wire - Velcros included are a joke. Get your own one - Quality is barely average

Great lights if you know what to expect........

Some people have complained that these are not bright. Those people do not understand that they are UV lights....ultraviolet, which is, by nature, very dim to the eye. BUT they light up the ENTIRE case when interacting with fluorescent tubing and cables. My water cooling tubes are a fluorescent green and VERY bright under these UV lights. Know what you are paying for and you wont be disappointed by these lights. They don't light up the entire room like the blue ones I have, but they make my case look amazing when you peer inside.

Good choice if you need a 12v Blacklight

I bought these to use for an art project, not to mod out a computer. It worked out really well. The two tubes in the picture can be separated and positioned to your liking, so you can have a 2' strip of blacklight. I hacked the wiring so I could run it off of a 12v battery, with the included inverter. There is a convenient on/off switch which I removed and used for EL wire on/off on another part of my project. I attached alligator clips to the wire ends to attach to the battery terminals. Yay, DIY.These were surprisingly bright for such thin tubes. I had them situated about 3' to 3.5' away from the thing I was lighting and it was strikingly bright and beautiful. I have probably now run them for a total of 40 hours? No problems so far. They consume less than the 24" blacklight that runs off the grid, so these are a reasonably good choice if you have power concerns. If you are handy, you could make something with UV LEDs which would reduce your power consumption considerably. I was in a rush and this was a decent alternative. The whole thing comes packaged in a clear plastic square tube that was easy to open. I hate blister packs, so maybe you'll find it useful to know you won't have to deal with that. The CFL tubes were encased in a clear plastic with white plastic at the ends. While I have a feeling the light gets filtered a bit by the clear plastic, it was convenient for zipties & not having to worry about handling it super carefully. The clear plastic goes 360 degrees around the UV CFL bulb.
