Are the ac infinity controllers necessary as an additional purchase? or can these fans work without a controller?

In my experience, there is no need for a controller. As long as the fan is running continuously, you are assured that hot air inside the cabinet is being removed.

How long is the power cord that comes with this unit?

5 or 6 ft I think. It's a low voltage cord, and a USB adapter that it plugs into.

Anyone rig up a filter for these? I was thinking of just using a dryer sheet as my application will be in the back of a cabinet?

The purpose of this AC Infinity AIRPLATE S9 is to draw out the air from inside the cabinet. Consequently, you do not need to rig a filter for this... If you can further elaborate your application, I may probably be able to give a suggestion.

Will it work in a teardrop camper with 12v DC power?

Yes. The fans are 5v so a 12v to 5v USB adapter would be needed to replace the provided 120v wall wart. This item is in no way water resistant. Good luck.
