RaceQuip 433991 Black SFI 3.3 Head Sock One Layer

Needed a certified balaclava for HPDE events and this one checks all the boxes without costing a fortune. It fits snugly under my helmet without bunching up and breathes better than some of the thicker options I tried. The SFI 3.3 rating is what the rulebook requires so there's no worrying about tech inspection. Good piece of safety kit that I reach for every track day.

Thought it might make my head hotter. Actually wicked away moisture better than I expected. Helped to keep my helmet liner dryer as advertised. As well as the material is fire retardant.

(Disclaimer, I removed the RaceQuip logo in the front with a seam ripper. But rest assured, this is the very same item.) First of all, this is a great head sock. I intend to use it for a cosplay which involves wearing a helmet and a gas mask on top of that, which I tested. Easy compatibility with both. It’s thin enough to support other head accessories like racing helmets, which obviously it’s intended for. It’s also VERY easy on your face. Firstly, the material is VERY soft and comfortable. No annoying seam going over the mouth, either. It’s a perfect fit, tight enough to hug your face just ever so slightly, but loose enough to get comfortable mouth movement. The eyehole is also excellently cut. Large enough so that practically nothing obstructs your view, but still enough material to guarantee that it goes over your nose without fear of it falling down. You can also pull the nose part down below your chin if you wanted. It also seems as though the neck covering is the perfect length. Just enough to cover the entire neck and get tucked under a shirt. And finally, the breathability is fantastic. Light and easy. Everything about this head sock feels as though it was meticulously and considerately designed for user comfort and applicability, and everything about it hits the Goldilocks zone for me. Just right. It does exactly everything it’s supposed to do. If I ever lose this one or it somehow gets damaged, I know where I’m coming for round two.
