The K&N 69-8616TS Typhoon air intake system is a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube air induction system designed to fit some Scion TC models. The restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing are replaced by the K&N Typhoon air intake which is designed to dramatically reduce air flow restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow. This allows your engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the factory air intake. More air means more usable power and acceleration throughout the engine’s RPM range. The 69-8616TS air intake comes with an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber topped K&N high-flow air filter and a heat shield that installs into the previous air box space. Air is directed through the intake tube into the engine’s throttle body for a guaranteed power gain. The intake tube has an attractive silver powder-coat finish that's made to last and it accommodates the factory mass air sensor and a replacement silicone crank case vent hose. The oversized cone shaped air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. This air intake is relatively easy to install usually in 90 minutes or less using existing factory mounting points. The tools needed are a couple of screwdrivers, a ratchet set and several wrenches. Some Typhoon air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards while others are CARB exempt and 50 state legal. Check the K&N catalog or website for vehicle applications and specific CARB status for each vehicle and air intake. This part fits the following models:SCION tC 2.5L L4 F/I (2011 - 2016)This list is a sample of all the compatible cars for this part. The HP and torque aren't noticeable yet. Since the extra HP and torque kick in at 5000-6000rpm most of the time it won't be noticeable. I have scan gauge II and it appears I'm getting better gas mileage so that's probably the better bonus of the two. Seem like I'm getting +3 to 4 more mpg. Will keep you all updated. I have a Scion TC 2011 automatic transmission and 2.5L engine. After installing everything I didn't get any check engine warning light (CEL) come on, so the installation was good. The hardest part was taking off the old throttle body and also installing the heat shield and lining up the screws which was surprising. Also, attaching the vent hose with the one they provide was quite a tight fit and I wasn't able to secure it all the way in as I had to push it in as far in as I could and put the clamp on that was from the older vent hose. After driving around the vent hose still was secure and I tested on highway and going up and down steep hills. I live in a suburb of greater Vancouver and we have some steep hills to climb. Even though hp/torque increase wasn't noticeable, I also found the sound of the intake not as loud as some other videos people have posted. You have to rev the engine (to at least around 2.5K to 3K+ rpm) to hear the deeper growl. Overall I think the car seems to accelerate a little quicker. Also I noticed the intake air temperature dropped from average 33 degrees Celsius to an average of 25-26 degrees Celsius. A grease monkey can do this installation in 30mins to 60 minutes. However, for a noob like myself it took me 8 hours. Another problem I experienced was for some reason one of the two screws on the sensor would not screw all the way down into the new throttle body. I had to find a new screw to screw it down (maybe I stripped the screw). Overall I still give 5 stars because of the experience gained doing this installation and the more noticeable improvement in gas mileage. I will have to take K+N word for the increase in HP and torque because I did not feel it at all but like I said maybe cause I did not rev the engine enough as I use an automatic 6 speed transmission.

Why haven't you done this sooner?
Easy install ,need smaller hands if you have a bar.Looks great, hear and feel the sounds, pairs well with TRD exhaust.

performance filter is everything I thought it would be
I like the fact that it has made a big difference in fuel consumpsion

Easy to install, no CEL, looks and sounds great.
Looks great and was easy to install. The hardest part was getting the stock intake off the throttle body unless you have some small vice-grips. Remember to look at the overall diagram when following the instructions as the steps don't necessarily mention all the screws to install. Power gains are at ~5200 RPMs, which is great. I hate when companies spec the max gain at redline. I can feel the difference around 4500 RPMs. Also, with this setup, it's easy to clean the filter and there are no worries about accidentally sucking water up into the engine, unlike other CAI setups.

Fits 2014 Scion tC perfectly. Looks/Sounds great.
Easy to install, made the entire engine bay look cooler. Deeper noise that is present when VVT-I kicks in at around 4000 rpm.Main reason I purchased it was the previous owner hydro locked his engine with the stock Intake that goes into the drivers side fender. Once I replaced the engine, I bought this to eliminate that risk of ever happening again.
