with *several* turns of the wire tightly coiled (tip of needle nose pliers worked perfect for size)
This cable's round end fits into plastic handle's round eyelet - the eyelet's been broken for some time and I've had a zip-tie that (nicely) did the trick for a couple of years. However, the old cable frayed where the round end is attached and the round part came off - time for a new cable (and new handle on order too).Measuring this is problematic. I measured the old cable right at 4.5" - New cable is just a biiiit too short when adjusted to it's longest. 5" would be ideal, but 6" probably too long. *CHECK YOUR HANDLE END - Ours needs about 1" EXPOSED CABLE. If you measure with the handle end FLUSH to its stop, you're likely going to be too short also. IF YOUR CABLE IS TOO SHORT make an adapter from some (~2") heavy clothes hanger wire . Fashion an eye JUST large enough for the Z-connector to fit through, with *several* turns of the wire tightly coiled (tip of needle nose pliers worked perfect for size). The Z-connect should just fit in, and catch solidly - a bit of bending to get a good angle and the Z connects solid *when pulled STRAIGHT* Remove Z. Figure out how much extra length you need. Bend the other end of the wire at that size, put it through the recliner's lever making a small loop (1/2") so it's free to move. Twist remaining wire *solidly* - this gets a lot of stress. Insert Z into the other end. Adjust cable to remove slack. It's working just fine here. The cable will likely stretch and eventually I'll remove the wire.

Didn't work well in my recliner. The missing spring on the end is a necessity so if your original chair had a spring on the end, make sure you replace it with one that does. I had to purchase the correct size with spring off of ebay.I usually wait a minimum of six months before writing any review in order to fully test a product and its durability.

The right product, price, ease of ordering and quick delivery!
I've looked for a month, at least, for the right cable length and ends. I'm so happy to finally find what I needed. It was at a good price, and the ordering process and quick delivery were a plus, as well. I'm happy with my purchase.

Clearer description needed.
I'm sure the product works perfectly. My issue is with the description, thought it was 4.5" of cable, but it's actually 4.5" to the very end of the connector. That length must be perfect.

Works great !!!
Works as good or better than the old cable. A little longer than the original but there was plenty of room under/inside of the recliner for the extra length. Installation was quick and easy, only took a few minutes.

Fit better than the original
Fit better than the original, which was about an inch too short which led to it's failure. Read carefully about how to correctly measure. Great product.

Needed to make some modifications to the connection point because cable exposure was shorter than it was supposed to be. I was still able to make it work
