Q: Will a small fit a men 30 waist?

I ordered mediums (I'm 6'1 220 lbs 32in waist) and if you have bigger legs they will not fit, it's like wearing a pair of spandex I'd definitely recommend going up a size or two.

Q: Would these be ok for swimming

I wouldn’t swim in them. The material is pretty thin and wearing them in water could lead to disastrous consequences

5.2 ounces, size large. I just weighed mine on my postage scale for you. I really like this style.

Q: What is waist size for L?

I am a larger waisted man and ordered the XL size. It does fit but snug. You may want to order a size larger than you normally wear.
